parent and child spaces...damned if you do, damned if you don't...

There have been so many threads about parent and child spaces and how we should consider ourselves lucky for having them etc. Well it appears that NOT using them when you are 7 months pregnant and have a 3 yr old in tow is wrong too...
Me and hubby went shopping with our ds in tow. After what felt like forever in said shop, we finally got back to the car to find someone had parked rather close to us. Thankfully hubby had parked next to trolley bay leaving me plenty of space to get in and out.
Hubby starts putting shopping in the boot and I hold car door open for ds to climb into his seat. Once ds is in, I lean over to strap him in. At that point the other car door open and the inside puts leg out the door and sits there playing with her phone. All hell then breaks loose because her door hits ours. I'm met with a mouthful of abuse saying she will be claiming for any damage to her ca
r (a citreon Saxo) and that people like me should use the parent and child spaces...
Can't quite make up my mind if she was feeling brave or just bloody stupid for having a go at a hot, bothered and clearly pregnant woman?! As for I should be specifically using p & c spaces and not a normal one... !!!!!!? Seriously??

Your car door was already open (and not hitting her car), and then someone in her car opened their door and hit your open door.
Frankly if there was any damage to be paid for, they should be paying you.
If I'm waiting to get out of my car and the car next to me has its doors open, I'll wait a bit. Eventually I'd open my door slowly and carefully and say 'excuse me please'.
Don't let idiots like the one you encountered ruin your day.0 -
Or did you inadvertently push your door out further whilst wrestling with the car seat and your bump so hit her door?
In which case the comment about using the parent/child spaces was more justified yet considering she was being impatient by trying to get out whilst you were 'doing' was still rude."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Why on earth didn't she just wait while you finished strapping your child in like any normal person0

Don't worry, there'll be someone along soon who will remind you that you should feel grateful to even have a car and a child, let alone dare using a parking space reserved for people who work hard and don't just bum around looking after their kids.
' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

I am suprised you didn't get down and beg for forgiveness from her for even daring to spawn another child Lou

:rotfl: ooohhhh, laughing so much at that! sad thing is, sooner or later, it probably will come up in a roundabout way!Don't worry, there'll be someone along soon who will remind you that you should feel grateful to even have a car and a child, let alone dare using a parking space reserved for people who work hard and don't just bum around looking after their kids.

True :rotfl:
Also why couldn't OP shop at a more convenient time maybe when the parent & child spaces are more likely to be available not during peak times when the workers need them as of course they are limited as to when they do the weekly shop.

you never said why you didn't use the better, larger space designed for you, are you perverse? just curious...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

I'd imagine it might have had something to do with the fact that most car parks have about 3 P&C spaces and several hundred normal ones. And the small amount of P&C spaces were probably full.you never said why you didn't use the better, larger space designed for you, are you perverse? just curious...0
