I bought a sack last spring and it has gone up from £16 to £20 in 3 months. I bake bread a minimum of 3 times a week and this time I bought strong white and wholemeal so that is the key behind 2 sacks. I got them from Amazing (free 3-5 day delivery). It is lovely flour and comes in a large brown paper sack inside a sealed plastic bag so this will minimise the possibility of gribblies or weevols. In any case I sift it to catch any "visitors" if my consumption isn't fast enough! :rotfl:This isn't the cheapest but the quality is outstanding.
As others have shown, there are problems in USA - we (UK) don't import a huge amount of food from USA, we top up from Sth America but with USA poor harvests they will be competing in the Sth America market as it is closer to them and so Sth American prices will rise. There are also problems with wet harvests in Eastern Europe and talk of food protests in some areas where poverty is prevalent.Looking at those 25kg bags of flour and wondering where on earth I would store them
Me too  I was going to stash one under the desk in the study but it's too heavy to lift safely for me :rotfl:I'm thinking the drawers in the spare bed or the cupboard under the stairs until I need to use them. I have two of the old-fashioned sweet jars (plastic, rather than glass) and I decant a fortnight's into those which I have hidey holes for so it isn't all in the kitchen. I noticed they do smaller sized sacks (16k) and multi packs of the normal supermarket size (1.5k x 4 and 1k x 8) which are easier to stash.
If it comes to it, I just have to get better at cupboard Tetris :rotfl:Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning everyone,
Went to MrM last night and spent £103.77. Me and DH are on a low GI wholefood type of diet and are trying to eat more healthily but this is costing me more! On the other hand, we have massively cut our alcohol consumption and this is keeping us within budget. it is really making me feel better and also maing me cook everything from scratch which is good. Have a good day xxFinally getting my life on track. Onwards and upwards.BSC No 327GC Jan £336.91/£450GC Feb £0/£4000 -

Thanks SuffolkLass for your kind comments.
Had a spend up yesterday on the cupboard ingredients needed for the rest of the month. Have swapped to as many cupboard ingredients as I can to help with avoiding the supermarket and got enough for the next 3 weeks - things like soy milk for instance. Got pasta, potatoes and 5kg of rice which will last for about 3 months I reckon.
Spends so far are £125.28 so it's going to be tight but hopefully doable. Fruit and veg delivery is £17 a week with 3 more to go so that leaves me about £5 for any extras. The plan is to avoid the supermarket for the rest of the month which will be a HUGE challenge for me- will keep you posted!GC: Jan £118.67/£175

Hippychick you are still under budget. £17 sounds really expensive for fruit & veg, I notice you live in London, there are tons of cheap places for fruit & veg. I would highly recommend Green Lanes in North London, if you live anywhere near - or you could try the Aldi 6 if you have one near - good luck0

Morning,
I am hoping for nsd so all food will be coming from stocks.
Today I have pulled out some bread for toast, we are sick of cereal.:rotfl:
Lunch will be left over soup from yesterday. Dinner will be cheese burgers with home made garlic and cheese bread. Weekend treat.
I have also pulled out a pork loin joint for sandwiches over the next few days. That is in the oven now.
I hope everyone has a low or no spend day.£36/£240

I went shopping yesterday and spent £82.60. I will probably end up buying more fruit during the week as well as more bread.
A quick tea tonight of sausages, eggs, chips and beans. We have quite a few eggs at the moment (chickens are still laying well) so may as well make use of them. I will get some baking done today at some stage too.
Does anybody know when aldi's super six changes? Thanks in advance.
