First spends of the month were
Aldi £45.97
Tesco £36.02
Morrisons £11.92
Sainsbury's £10.39
Wilkinson £6.99
Total spend £112.29, signature updated.
Bought a hair dye in Wilkinsons and getting daughter to dye my hair at home. Cheaper than going to the hairdressers. Quite a large shop this week but my fridge and cupboards were bare. Needed stuff like washing tablets, fabric condition and toiletries which I won't need to buy for the rest of the month now so should make next shop cheaper (she hopes)Grocery Challenge - Sept £205.56/£350.000 -

Now then, I wish I could see a way out of this... when I mention dying my hair at home (like I used to) my hairdresser puts the fear of god into me implying that it might a). drop out or b). go green. So I obediently go trotting back for a permanent colour every 6 weeks or so... what does everyone else think? I used to colour it myself before I went on to permanent colour. £40 every 6 weeks is an expense I could do without.

Hello,
Can I join please? I have joined a few times in the past but fell off the wagon
If I can be put down for £68 for September please; this is to cover for groceries only for two adults.
It is lower this month as I have food in still from my last shop; I overspent so I am trying hard this month to get back on track.
I have booked an online shop for the 6th September so I will update details then.
Washing machine is beeping so I'll be back later.

Stocked up on various things for the month at £land but wasn't overly impressed tbh. I must compare prices with those at Ald! next time I go. Also £18.66 at H&B, everything in store is buy-one-get-one-half-price so I saved £5.55. This included 166 days of vitamins!!! Plus broth mix and other stuff. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries May 2025

Frozen would be absolutely fine! I added water to my filling anyway so you can just judge how much to add as you make it to get the consistency you want.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I think you know the answer to that one
I have every confidence in your ability to colour your own hair successfully and thriftily :j:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

:rotfl:
Yep.
At the moment the 1.5kg bottle is 19p (if you are lucky enough to find it! They are replacing it with a smaller 1.35 bottle which is more expensive than the original price of £3 ) in Tesco so I have a few bottles for cooking with more than using as a sauce.
It compares at Asda too if you do an APG shop.
I'm trying to think up ways to use it.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I say try it for a few months and you still think £40 every 6 weeks is worth it you can always go back to the salon. It's only hair... it'll grow back.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
TwsitedLogic I shop online approx every 2-3 weeks and buy meat from the butchers approx once a month, unless there are special offers. Salad stuff/veg i get when it runs out, usually once a week. I buy stuff off my lists if there are good YS offers. I try to meal plan, but as we have so much in, i just throw it together on a whim, but prefer when i have batch cooked, makes life easier. i am going to meal plan for the next week, as i have spent a large chunk of our budget on the main shop for the month, so it gets me back on track.
Edit - i buy uht milk, so i always have a supply in the pantry.
JennyPennySaver I always dye my own hair, i buy the dye in the £1 store and it never looks fake. I tend to put it through in streaks, the next time i get a colour which looks similar and do the same, and this results in a natural look. I would say, buy a colour very similar to your own, you really cannot go wrong. Good luck and lets us know how it turns out if you dye it.
I would like to add £40.71 to my total, and am off to update sig0
