  • Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, but could I please be added into the September Challenge?

My budget is £80 for the month

    Thankyou
  • JJ - that looks lush. Lol'd at the secret ingredient too. :rotfl:

I might start being a bit more experimental when hubby goes away, so i will only kill myself if anything goes wrong.

£6.73 spent today on bits and bobs and a couple of treats, been stuck indoors all week so just fancied a treat.

Using up burgers we had in the freezer for tonights tea, out at a wedding tomorrow so that's tomorrow sorted. Probably home made curry on Saturday night. Cor i actually seem a little bit organised.

I have promised myself to meal plan after hubby goes away next thurs, which should be easy ish. And with 6-7 months of planning i might actually keep it up once he is back.

  • Is it better to do a weekly shop or a monthly shop?

I've never done either, I've just bought what I like, probably why I'm skint by the last week before payday.

This also may sound like a silly question, but how do people meal plan? Bearing in mind, it's only me, no-one else.

For me a weekly shop is better because if I did a monthly shop I would forever be popping out for milk bread, fruit etc.
Meal plan around what you already have in say you have some chicken breasts in the freezer, rice in the cupboard you could get the rest of the ingredients to make a curry and maybe have it for 2 days for your tea and my favourite mince, buy a large pack and you would be able to make a bolognaise, shepherds pie, chilli ets portion up and freeze individual portions like homemade ready meals then you wouldnt have to be cooking every night? x
