Stokegal - would love a bit of that cobler but you see.. trying to diet ;)

    Looks yummyyyyy though.....
  • Weekly shop was £59.64 :j

For my meal plan this week I picked out recipes from the first few posts on this thread - can really tell from the total! Had the potato and bacon hotpot tonight, was yummy, really easy, and I already had all the ingredients :)

Have already spent £26.04 on groceries, so the total so far this month is £85.68/£334.
Go to the ant, thou sluggard
  • ok, time to own up to what I have spent today....

    starting with - me baddddddddddddddddddddd

    1) Newsagent £4.26
    2ymdpud.jpg

    2) 99 p store £6.93

    5dm4qo.jpg

    3) Polis shop £15.94

    15ft8it.jpg

    4) Tesco £43.73

    son689.jpg

    5) Cab to get it all home £5.50

So... grant total of..... £76.36 - leaving me with £3.64 to the end of the month :o:o:o

In my defence.. (as I need one here I feel) - chopped the big spare rib piece into 2 parts, frozen 2 and the last one.. made some barley soup with it using barley, 1 carrot, 1 stock cube, salt, peper, 1 parsnip, 1 large potato. Took the little meat off the spare rib and shredded it into the soup. Got 5 nice size portions already boxed up.

I believe the food will go long way, possibly not as log as a month but.....

Will need to buy milk for work tomorrow (50p) and nothing else for a while.....

I am not sure if it was supposed to, but you had me :rotfl:at your post! However, I was then impressed with your intention to stretch that food as far as possible! Don't let any of that fresh 'stuff' go to waste! Batch cook it & get it in the freezer!

My day was not a NSD after all. I needed to get some things later in the week and as I was already in Mr T getting school uniform items, so I grabbed them. Of course, I had to take a detour to the reduced sections. Managed to get an extra large quiche for £1.09 (would normally make my own but can't grumble at that price, will help for a quick meal), 12 chipolata sausage for 25p (will be fine in Toad in the Hole) & 6 thin cut rump steaks for £4.15 (split in to 2s for DH & my Saturday night dinners)! I also managed to get a loaf of bread for 19p & 2 packs of the W*rburton Square Wraps for 29p each (which I have bunged in the freezer).

Dinner tonight was a YS roast turkey thigh with veg & gravy. I also cut up a red cabbage & cooked with apple etc ready to portion up and put in the freezer! I forgot all about it but suddenly realised what the lovely smell was coming from the kitchen! Hence the bottom 1cm in the pan had burnt as I had not stirred it but I think the rest is ok & is now all portioned up!

    Goodnight :)

Annoyingly had to spend some money on food this weekend. £8.49 on cheese, ham and eggs (picnic stuff plus eggs for yorkshires), plus £2.15 at local shop on plain flour! (made pie for tea but had used flour on scone making).
    Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 600

Need to make big savings as hubbys business has taken a nose dive so will sign up to this challenge. I have a good store cupboard already, but want to keep that well stocked - so hoping to stick to a budget of £350 - there is me and OH and we have DGS three days per week, with family every weekend. We get our milk, eggs and rolls delivered as this saves me having to visit any shops during the week so slightly dearer but saves in the long run as I canot just go in and buy a pint of milk! That will have to come out of this budget - so really only got £320. In our office we buy in bulk to allow us to obtain discounts - this week its the butchers, where we negotiated a discount of 10% if the combined order is over £200. Our local chicken factory sells 5kg grade A chicken fillets for £5 per kg, which is another purchase to split this week, My month will run between paydaysso its 31st Aug to 27th Sept. Looking forward to this challenge - Here we go....diary at the ready :j

    Nom nom :)
That will be so good with custard!
Regular value brand of plain flour works fine in bread. It's much cheaper than bread flour. It just has less gluten in it which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Ok, not done this is a long time! We ended up eating out of the freezer for 3 months to empty it before moving (300ltr chest freezer)! The first month saved us £80, after that we got bored and started 'treating' ourself to BBQ foods and salads a few times a week to break the monotomy. But we never went over budget :T

Fast forward to after the move (and holiday) and I had to re-stock the freezer and cupboards to come extent... and went £40 over last month!

So this month is a new start. We have a family of 4 (Me, DH, DS(10) and DD... oh and the cat!) DD may only be 7 months but costing me the most money when it comes to food, she likes to eat anything which means I feed her what we eat... we have changed the budget to £210 this month!

Just did a meal plan for the month and done the next 4 weeks shopping lists and am budgeted to go 57p over budget while stocking up on a few things which I have coupons for but will last 3 months...!

So this month my food budget is £210 please!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!
