5:2 diet

  • I don't think you're meant to count calories burned (in gym or elsewhere) when totting up total calorie intake for a fast day. It's just a max of 500 for women and 600 for men. Days shouldn't be concurrent - you're meant to be switching off the IGF-1 hormone so that your body goes into repair mode. Have been on this for several weeks now, have lost a lot of the fat round my waist and my husband commented he can see his ribs again. His blood pressure has also decreased (was of concern to his doctor). Am primarily following it for health reasons - want to put off the signs of ageing as long as possible.
Easy 'diet' to follow as it isn't a diet at all - you can always eat anything you want tomorrow. Would like to find more interesting recipes for under 250 cals (eat some of my calories for breakfast), so if anyone can recommend some that would be great.

Monday was meant to be my second fast but I chickened out :o - all week until yesterday. It was a doddle so I'm hopefully back on track.

Days can be subsequent ( not sure what you mean by concurrent, as it means at simultaneous). It's just much harder for most people. I know I couldn't do it.
In fact, ketosis doesn't kick in until quite a long time, so it could be more effective.

What I have found is that fasting has become much easier. I used to skip breakfast and have some lunch and dinner, but I tried fasting until evening the other day and found it very easy ( even though I had taken some food with to work, I didn't touch it). So GG and others, hang in there, it does become easier when your body is used to it.

I'm feeling good, lost 5 kg in 6weeks.:D

Think the OP meant consecutive rather than concurrent. Its easy to confuse them. Except if you've worked for the judiciary!!!!

  • now on week nine though still only lost 8lbs. I fasted on monday and was going to do wednesday changed my mind and decided to do thursday. had scramble egg and ww toast for brekkie but by 12 I caved and ate normally!!! I've been so busy today I didn't eat until 7 so feel have redeemed myself, had my normal soup and 2 slices of ww bread with it. I'm so pleased I got my 2nd fast day in as I would have felt quite disappointed in myself. I can now attend a party tonight and not worry about how much food and drink I consume!!!!:j

I think a pound a week is about what most people are finding, since some a lot of initial loss to start with I seem to be dropping that every week now.

Found green tea tastes miles better and not as bitter when I leave the water to cool a little first!

Funnily enough I've also got a product trial via a survey to test some new PG Tips Green Tea that is a small sachet or liquid, supposed to taste less bitter and it does! But not massively so TBH

Been reading the articles in the press & on this forum. I have one function after another up to Christmas so I'm going to start in the New Year (honest!!) I'm not overweight but I do have a 'muffin top' I'd like to get rid of. I do a Yoga lesson early on a Thursday evening so don't want to eat before & could easily use that as one of my days. Just need to decide which other day now.
I'm curious as to what other people eat on their low calorie days - especially as I cannot go without some sort of breakfast!
