5:2 diet

I think looking at everything it must be part of the undiagnosed health problems. But I need to find a way of losing weight now and waiting around for a diagnosis/treatment isn't going to be helpful since i've been waiting 6 years already!
Certainly if in 3 months there hasn't been much change I will seek expert help. But honestly apart from eating nothing I don't know how I am going to get it off
I am very very very overweight0 -

Perhaps you're not eating enough? If you're not even maintaining your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) then you will find it very difficult to lose any fat as your body thinks it's in famine mode.
I would even go as far as to suggest that due to your illness/complications that you're not even absorbing half of what you eat nutritionally therefore would probably need to eat far higher calories than usual to obtain all the nutrients and energy your body requires.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
There is a lot of myth around about the body going into 'starvation mode' but the intemittent diet should prevent this anyway.

However if I had health problems I think I would seek the help of a dietician.
But I did do the ultimate crash diet once - and it worked! Quite simply my appendix burst and I was in hospital for weeks. I wasn't allowed food for at least two weeks (must have been getting nutrients from the drip). Anyhow I went in over 11 and a half stone and came out under 11. That spurred me on and by the time I returned to work I was down to 10 and a half stone. I got so many compliments, it spurred me on. I carried on dieting and when I was fit enough after that major op I joined a gym (by then, around 10 stone) - eventually getting to 9 stone and a few pounds. Still half a stone or so above my slimmest days but not bad. I kept the weight off for many years and it only increased when I got older and lazier and my eating habits went downhill. Being retired and doing a lot more baking and 'TV troughing' hasn't helped. So here I am with not even an appendix to burst this time around to help me along :rotfl:

2 x scrambled eggs mid morning and 2 x quorn sausages and a tub of cherry tomatoes in the afternoon. And a nice bit of baked monk fish with spinach and runner beans this evening.
Definitely went over with milk in tea.

They have a huge database of everyday foods already calorie counted for you.
My update. Started 9th August doing a lifestyle similar to 5:2 based on Dr Johnsons Up day Down Day Book. ie I do Mon/Wed/Fri on 500 cals, Tues Thurs on 2,100 cals & Sat/Sun 1650-1850 cals.
So as of this morning I have lost 9lbs in weight. Have stopped taking all NSAID's. Joints allowing me to sleep like a log at night. (OH also sleeping better as he says I'm not snoring as much LOL) Blood Pressure down 20pts...not far off normal for my age weight. Now started gentle exercise, walking, swimming etc. Feel wonderful and I'm finding it easy to keep to...it fits my lifestyle,& is flexible in that I can if I wish change my days to suit social events. Not noticed any improvement in my brain though yet!!!:rotfl::T2013...nothing..still hoping though!!0 -

Love the rest of your update too. Well done:TI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I have been alternate day fasting, well I have 500 cals , and then 2000 on the other days and I have lost 6lbs since 23/8 when I started!!
I am having my bp checked in Oct and am hoping that will have gone down as that will prove the health benefits.
I am enjoying it as well so its all good...its a very refreshing change for me and Im looking forward to getting to my goal weight on it.
Take care all!!0 -
Doing one day a week on 500 calories, first week was by accident due to self inflicted food poisoning.
I do have days where I just cannot be bothered to eat so this seemed like a more positive action. Have lost 7lb in 2 weeks.
Just trying to do more (cycling to work) and eat better & with fewer carbs otherwise.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
