  • Just done first day on 500 cals, struggled a bit this afternoon but just had steamed veg and cod and feel much better. Hopefully it will be easier next Monday as that's my next fast day. Hubby is also doing it and he seems to have managed it ok and he is quite a big eater.

Must admit I am already thinking about breakfast! Lol
  • I want to start this. I've recently started going to the gym more frequently with my husband, and my husband also plays rugby and football regularly.

However, my husband is quite skeptical.. He thinks that it sounds a bit like the Brian Butterfield diet!

  • Well i think im going to give this a go, ive read up on a few things and can see how the effects could work, i have also spent the last week looking back on when i was at more healthy weights and understand that actually i was potentially doing similar things i ate much less processed foods and some days were far more sparce in my consumption than the next, in fact i regulary wouldnt eat any thing on a Thursday during my early twenties.

So i plan on revisiting this aspect now, hopefully it will spark weightloss, money saving and a healthy me.

1 st Day fasting ! ate food about 4pm yesterday.... belly keeps talking to me ...so i keep telling it to shut up as i feed it more water :rotfl:Drown u voices i will :rotfl:

  • I am on my 5th RC day. I have managed to stick to between 500-550cals but am not finding it easy! I seem to feel worse on my second low cal day in the week, I'm thinking that maybe I should try Mon & Thurs rather than Tues and Thurs and space it out bit more. I felt ok Tues but today feel really miserable (although not as bad as last week!) and have used up all my cals for today, I was planning on saving some for this evening. I haven't lost any more weight but I am feeling a little slimmer in some of my clothes.

I am finding the thought of continuing with the 5:2 forever a bit much! I'm not sure I really want to but I shall keep going for a few more weeks and see how it is going.

I'm pleased that I have been able to find some will power from somewhere and stick to my calorie targets. It's made me realise that I can eat a lot less than I was and I certainly appreciate food a lot more now!

On another low calorie day today. Got some nice assorted cherry tomatoes and a big bottle of water to keep me going at work.
    In more ways than one.

Very good. Actually it's very similar to the plan the American woman scientist was doing in the Horizon program. And probably quite true to life!!
  • I've had a lower cal day today, but I have never counted calories in my life and I find the working out of them a bit off putting. I reckon I got down to about 750 cals today and will keep working at it to get to 500 for future days.

2 x scrambled eggs mid morning and 2 x quorn sausages and a tub of cherry tomatoes in the afternoon. And a nice bit of baked monk fish with spinach and runner beans this evening.
Definitely went over with milk in tea.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Have dropped 11 lbs in 4 weeks. Don't want to lose any more than 6 more lbs though! would love to know if I'm healthier - seem to have more energy.

Doing the 8/16 for a couple of weeks has resulted in a measly 1/2lb weight loss, I am so disappointed! I do like it as a lifestyle though and will carry on, working more on what I am eating within the limits I have. I suppose any loss, however small, is an acheivement because I struggle badly to lose any at all. Whether that is part of my undiagnosed health problems I don't know, but i'd say maybe because before I got so ill I dropped 7lbs no problem for a wedding. And with the 8/16 I have stopped my worst habit which is night time snacking, so my calorie intake has been reduced quite significantly.

The weight loss on the 5:2 seems much better but I know without trying it's not suitable for me.

Will be weighed again in 3 months (don't have scales at home) so here is hoping I have lost quite a bit by then. If I haven't I honestly think not eating at all is going to be the only way left to get some off :( I suppose I will then ask for a dietician referral, but I only see them telling me to eat things that I can't, and do alot of exercise (i'm so drained health wise currently I can only manage stairs one at a time, so...).

Think things would have been better without 39 days of steroids too but I had to give them a try. They did not help matters weight wise and to add insult to injury didn't work for my symptoms either!

Wow that's tough. Maybe your body is temporarily hanging on to water and one day it will just go? That's how I find it. Weight stays the same for a while, it might even go up a pound or two - then woosh there's a nice drop :T.
Also, does it depend on how overweight one is to start? I am approaching a stone loss for the first 4 weeks but I am very overweight (and have a lot further to go).
I started the day after the programme on the 5:2 but switched to the intermittant model a week ago.
