So bl**dy peed off!! Just had a message off OH's godparents saying they can't make it to the wedding THIS FRIDAY  as they have booked a holiday as it was cheaper for them to go Friday than Saturday. I know this is a money saving forum but I think its so rude!!!
Only got 2 days to try and bump someone up from evening or we've wasted £100 grrrrrrr:mad:
Thanks for the rant

Know how u feel, my best friends partner wont be coming to the wedding now, only found out yesterday so we have had to try and fill her space but we cant.so rang the venue, they told us its to short notice so it was bought up in convo with my best friend and he has offered us the money it has cost us for her meal.0 -
I think it highlights to me that my MiL should never have bullied me into inviting people who me and OH barely know. I'm so cross!!!Preparing for arrival of baby by clearing out the debts...:p0

We had 2 people waste our money on the actual day. The male friend came to the ceremony minus his wife but wouldn't say why his wife didn't attend, he then felt he couldn't stay for the meal as he would get in his words, a load of moaning from her if he did stay.
The only bonus part of it was that we had a buffet so it wasn't like the actual food wasn't served, but still annoying to over pay when we didn't need too.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
I've already said to my OH that if people don't turn up on the day that we will never speak to them again as we can only have a max of 60 guests to the wedding breakfast we're having to really pick carefully and there are other people we can put in the spaces.

I would be really angry if someone had invited me to their evening reception and then with 2 days to go expected me to fill in, take a days annual leave or unpaid leave from work to go to their wedding for the whole day.
Just swallow the loss and don't antagonise the friends you have inviting for the evening by 'bumping them up' which I find disrespectful. If you didn't want me there all day to begin with, I wouldn't feel valued to be herded into a full day place just to save you money. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
We had a couple of couples break up, one announce 3weeks before he couldnt come and unfortunatly one ended up falling ill and going into hospital 2 days before so obv his wife didnt attend either. All but one space was filled. Very annoying. The only one i was fuming at was the one who just hadnt bothered to tell us so i can understand how annoyed you are. A couple of evening guests never turned up, i text a while ago and she didnt tb, very rude!!!0

We bumped two couples up last min. One couple had only invited us to evening to their wedding so were thrilled as they had booked the hotel anyway and the other are a very last min couple in general so 2 days notice was plenty of time for them! One 'worked from home' and the other works for family so took the day off. Just be selective with the people you ask.0 -

But it doesn't save them money?? It just means that someone will eat the meal that they have paid for.
I personally would be thrilled to be upgraded. If I had to take AL it would be too short notice, and if I had plans I wouldn't necessarily cancel them (it depends on who), but I certainly wouldn't be offended. Weddings can be soo expensive, and with venue numbers etc, it's almost impossible to nvite everyone you want, and keeping everyone happy is ! :rotfl::T0 -

Yeah, I phrased that wrong. I meant so they don't lose out on money rather than saving money. Fingers going slower than brainIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
