What are you guys doing with all these slugs?

I don't want to kill them; but like most of us I guess, I'm being swamped by them.

I considered bagging them up and taking them to a local nature reserve. They would at least stand a chance; or if not, help the local animals there.

Any comments/suggestions on this?

Sometimes I pour salt on them for fun. Sometimes I walk on them. I have put slug pellets down too. They wiped out 25 sunflowers, all my chinese cabbage, some parsley, some lupins, a delphinium, and so on. Left the bindweed and dandelions though.

Wheel acid makes them explode. I hate them, I have recently invested in an electric copper barrier that surrounds my garden to stop them getting in. For those that still hide around my garden, salt or wheel acid if they are lucky, else its going to be a slow and agonising death by the slug pellets.

Drown them in a tin of Tesco Value Bitter or similar. Then leave them on the lawn, the birds will soon hoover them up.

My sister uses the beer trap - she says they die happy.

I'm more humane - I throw them into the middle of the road that goes past my house, and if they can dodge the traffic on the way back to the kerb they live to make the same exciting journey another day...

And you enjoy the sound of vehicles skidding on the patches of slime that adorn your road ...
