After going right the way through and it coming on screen that they'd look at my application and get back to me within 48 hours, the dang thing threw me a technical error so dunno if it's gone through or not! :wall: Will leave it a few days and if I've heard nothing I'll try again! *sigh*Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

Try giving them a call? They're pretty helpful on the phone...0

Yes, that's what I have so I don't have to pay in £1,500 a month0 -
BTW, you can walk into any branch of HSBC to do any banking that you can't do via on-line or via telephone. FD is owned by HSBC and the branches can access basic info such as balances, statements etc.
I've been with FD for years and have always found them faultless. You can ring them any time and get through to someone in the UK without having a stupid automated phone system to fight your way through!
Their on-line banking is simple to use and you can also send secure messages which are normally replied to within 24 hours.

Very helpful thank you! Someone mentioned doing lodgements via HSBC if needed, so extra info very good to know.
Nobody else seems to come close to their standard of customer service which is obviously a plus!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I had a similar problem when I applied for a FD curr account online recently when I had an error message and wasn't sure if the application had gone through. A quick phone call to them and they confirmed that it had.
The account was opened within a couple of days and the whole switching process was very painless.
Have since opened an e saver and regular saver and I have to say any time I've needed to contact customer services they have been extremely helpful and competent.
Previously had a current account with Intelligent finance which was telephone/internet only and never had any problems with having no branch to go into. Cheques were banked by post, although I have taken cheques to HSBC to pay into the new FD Account which is handy.0 -
Gave FD a ring last night and they answered within 3 rings
Confirmed application had gone through ok so just gotta sit tight!
I'm actually with IF too, and always managed ok with online banking too.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
My advice is "Be in control", leave nothing to chance.
I recently migrated all my financial products from dead or dying financial institutions (Cahoot, IF, A&L, Scottish Widows). Transferred Cahoot to two different providers one after the other so both providers think they own my main account and so I reap the cash incentives and free packaged benefits of both.
That required good planning, timing the applications correctly and delaying the DD and SO transfers until I'd manually moved the important ones myself (i.e. those that could affect my credit rating such and Credit Cards, Mobile Contract, Interest Free Loans, Mortgage)
Now 18 months on, I've either replaced every financial product I owned or upgraded it. I've closed all unnecessary accounts and trimmed unnecessary credit facilities. Basically a complete financial overhaul but kind of miss the challenge now.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

A few years ago when I first got my credit report, I seen a heap of accounts on it that I thought shouldn't. Realised then it was the like of store/catalogue accounts that were at £0, but never actually closed. Got those all sorted asap.
I make a point now that if I'm not using something I close it properly.
Now all I have would be my 2 bank accounts (hopefully soon to be 3!), mobile and internet. It's nice to have everything all tidied up!!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0
