I've never had any problems with the online service - and there's a nice iphone app, too.
Not as featured as some, I think...but it works easy enough - and no stupid pinsentry box!0 -
I'm not advanced enough in technology enough to own an iPhone. Well, actually I am but I don't like them. I'm sticking with my trusty Sony Ericsson!! :rotfl:
So long as I can see my account balance, credits/debits, so/dd's,etc, and be able to pay bills online, it should work!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Why not do both, FD and Lloyds Vantage? Takes a bit of sending money round (by SO?) but perfectly doable. And can include Halifax for their £5/mth whilst you are at it.
Personally, I don't understand why anyone would leave Santander, when you can get all the cash back (and interest, if you play it right) on the 123 account. Like many other MSEers, I have one of theirs, plus an FD, plus a few Lloyds Vantage accounts, plus some Halifaxes, plus a few others with useful features....who says you need to limit yourself to just one current account?0 -
I have FD account and was going to leave after 6 months to receive £100, but to be honest I'm going to stay because I've found them to be so easy to deal with, everything is done efficiently, all my requests are dealt with correctly and promptly. The only slight annoyance is the online banking which is lacking in features.
Oh and I can pay in at my local HSBC, so no issues there either.
Having said that I do have other bank accounts which I do a monthly cycle of money through to maximise rewards! But I now use FD as my 'main' bank account.0 -

That's the way to do it and the way I do it. Shuffle money between 1 x FD 1st account, 3 x Halifax Reward, 2 x Santander preferred (no longer available), 1 X 123 and 7 Vantage (living in hope for a rate rise) and then back to my Lloyds Gold to get my 'free' perks.
Try it OP. Money for very little time and effort once you've got it all set up.0 -

Also switching my cuurent account to Natiowide for their free travel insurance due to Lloyds appalling customer service.... I may also temporarily "soft switch" another of my Lloyds vatage current accounts and open an FD account just for the incentive bonus. If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0

Thanks everyone for your replies and tips
But crikey oh!! My head is buzzing with all that info!!!!
:rotfl:
If I do switch to First Direct, I won't have the dd set up in the Santander 123 to qualify for their interest/benefits - I only have my mobile and internet bills so I can't split dd between banks. Everything else is paid upfront/cash.
myth123 you answered my question about where I could pay in money to FD if I had to - HSBC. That's handy enough
exel1966 you have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands :rotfl:
Unless maybe I stay with Santander, open an account with FD rather than actually 'switch', and set up an so for the £1500 into FD, and 2 so's out each month. Does that qualify or do I actually have to 'switch'?
Don't fancy being with Halifax ever again so think I'll skip on that one. Don't think you could pay me to go back again!!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
FD's regular saver account has a brilliant interest rate (8%) although I know this doesn't count for the 'no fee' on the current account, only the E-saver. Can you have both?!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

Actually I rate Lloyds TSB above First Direct for service. I only use First Direct for their regular saver account now and wont be getting my main banking. Not had any issues with Lloyds TSB at all where as First Direct will only issue a Full Auth card to me even after telling them my initial card got damaged they still replaced it with non contactless one after they said all new cards issued would be contactless. :mad:0
