Don't have a Lloyds in NI so a bit of a brick wall there. Although I spose I could manage it online too...
Hoping that when I get whatever accounts opened/set up, I don't confuse myself completely with transfers etcWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
For Switch read - open account/credit account with £1500pm by any means (15 x £100 if that suits), then set up a couple of 'dummy' S/O's to fulfill the T&C's.
Set up new future 'dummy' annual S/O's to pay yourself £1.00. Once they're set up and you see them on the account, await payment of your £100/£125 bonus then cancel both S/O's having never used them.
Open an E-saver with FD, deposit £1, then you won't have to fund the £1500PM.
You'll also have access to their 8% regular saver or the opportunity to possibly make £100 if you close the FD 1st account after 6 months. You must have valid complaints to do this.
PS. It takes very little time to set up the movement of funds.0 -
Thank you
I think it's just getting my head around it all is my problem!!!! lol :rotfl: (maybe too early in the morning still!!)
Ok. Think I got it. Keep Santander as it is. Prob would just transfer the £1500 to fund FD then transfer it back to Santander again to get the interest in that account. Do that each month if I have to or as long as needed. 2x s/o's should be straight forward.
Their regular saver would be one I think I'd be happy to hang on to at that interest rate.
Sorry guys. Kinda feel as if everyone keeps repeating themselves to try and get me to understand! I WILL get there!! lol :rotfl:
First thing is first - open the FD account. Let's hope I'm not refused...!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

I know you said you'd never go back to Halifax, but I make £240 a year on my 4 Reward accounts*...which pays for my week in the Canaries each March.
Starting to look more appealing?
* Opened before they placed (tighter) restrictions on the number of accounts you could hold.0 -
lol
I hear ya!!!
Halifax is one reason I couldn't get myself out of debt. Got stuck in an overdraft/fee rut with them. Their charges were astronomical, some very unjustified too. Wasn't until I left them I was able to get my overdraft down. Just don't particularly want to give them my money again (although if I'm gonna be lifting the money as soon as it's in, it's not really theirs at all.... plus getting my £5 a month is a bit of an 'in your face' kinda thing!!lol)

You have to play the banks at their own game. I don't particularly like Halifax but they're giving away £5 for a few minutes work each month moving £1,000 back and forth.
I closed my account with them a few months back as believe I had a CPD marker with them and just last month rejoined them to get a little extra £100 sign up bonus :-) Another positive is it looks like they've given me a new CIN / Internet Banking ID on their computer system as computer used to say no (CPD) but now it says yes (CPD appears to have gone) :-)0 -
If they have the £100 join up bonus again then maybe I will consider it. Thank youWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

Question:
I'm going through the FD application process. It's asking about other bank accounts. If I fill in the details will it go through whole process of 'switching' banks accounts and transferring all dd/so etc over too? Was planning on keeping Santander for the interest but can't if I've no dd's...Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -

I have a feeling that you have to use their "automated switching service" or whatever they call it, in order to get the £100. I guess you may be able to switch some back once they're done, though...and they don't actually close the old accounts...
(worth noting that the word "automated" is used loosely...they notify everyone of your new details, but then it's up to them to make the switch...took us months to get our Barclays loan straightened out as they just refused to switch the DD, then cancelled it, then set up a new one...blah blah blah)0 -
Okey dokey. Will hope for the best and that none of my bills get messed up...!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0
