Adoption

I fostered for many years and spent 20 years working with children and adults in Social Services. I had some extraordinarily good times fostering the kids were often challenging but without exception wonderful.
However when friends have asked about adoption or fostering I always reply that the kids are great it is the system which becomes the unpredictable beast. Looking at his thread the things that stand out for me are a) someone has waited 4 years for approval and b) at quick guess is 50% of the replies focus on language and terminology and that's on an internet forum wait till the process starts.
My honest direct opinion is to go for fostering; help, should you need it, is much more accessible and the process is less onerous there is also the opportunity for your own kids (watch my language there) to have a say on how it feels for them.0 -
