anyway, here for free pastries......
seriously have you looked at the old style thread?
they tell you about cooking from scratch, how to build a store cupboard and you need to take a look at things like approved foods and many other similiar companies, where you can buy food cheaply.
Use charity shops for clothes (I can't find any with clothes that fit me... so tend not to buy any), use freecycle and freegle (yes ani, me again with freecycle) for things to help you around the house, ie cookers/washing machines/pots and pans etc.

I can't find it but I had a link to a recipe thread created, tried and tested by msers, didn't work for everyone but you could take what you wanted out of it.
signed up for some of the old school threads
we have a fairly healthy store cupboards
cook from scratch and i can make Stone Soup
we take advantage of whoopsies
we grow what we can on a roof garden and a big bay window
we even planted potatoes and strawberries in the overgrown green
we actively freegle
He is planning to ebay stuff
We are pretty well off for "stuff"
I barter fine knitting
we are considering other income streams - DH can earn £100 on top of carers, he loses IS if he does - but we get free prescriptions
and i get free dental treatment for one of my physical conditions.
The supermarket site is awesome - its bookmarked for a good look.
I need to tackle my cholesterol and my weight and the advice on their is good.
Approved food is also on the list but I have yet to see anything we really want or need.... I'll keep looking
Thank you again for your kind interest
I shall peruse it later - thank you0 -
Popping in to say hello.
Can only imagine that you have been housed in a part of the capital that the tourists dont usually visit.
Its the part of the capital made notorious by a certain film......
dont often find tourists - except for our couch surfers..... but thats a whole nother story
we are allowed to visit the tourist bit
Thanks for popping in
I am delighted by everyone's interest. It really is much more motivating and encouraging than I imagined......:T

there are other sites similar to approved foods, someone posted them on another diary. I will have a look later later and link for you.
there are lots of threads on mse about weight loss and motivation to keep it off. Think Beanie is on one? I know there was a good one that you had to exercise to the choice that month. It was fun and a good way to keep motivated, unfortunately nothing works for me, I have a relationship with food ,I have problems I eat lots of sugary stuff to help... so my weight doesnt come off.
Beanie may know the challenge. One month they were all choosing their favourite holiday destination, ie France. And they worked out the miles from their home to France and had to exercise in that many miles for the month. ie you would walk 1 mile a day to try and reach your milage for France. This way you were exercising and it was a fun goal.
I am rambling sorry. Lots of good ideas, support and links on MSE, it is a case of finding them all though.
oh, about income streams... I am going promise! Take a look at the make £10 a day thread. We don't all hit target but it is fun getting there and lots of little ideas to generate income, if you want to do them.0 -

For me the weight loss is a bit incidental I yoyo between a 10 and a 16 depending on mood swing and medication. I have been on some fairly heavy duty meds and piled it on. Fortunately ASDA have cheap tracky bottoms and a pair of linen slacks so I can cope till I can get back into my 14s.
I hope that by focusing on my diet and getting more activity and swimming once a week and having reduced/stopped the medicinal offenders it will gradually drop - but not too far.
I have arthritis and with the weight walking is painful after about 50 yards. I plan to work on that....
There is such a lot to do... your suggestions are brilliant and very welcome
much love

I have an "indefinite" award high care, low mobility. Really want to focus on my own recovery at this time and get back to work before the next set of benefit reforms start rolling out.
If nothing else the stigma against benefit claimants and the degradation of dealing with some of the staff working for DWP and ATOS provides motivation, but my talented and learned team of very well paid clinicians and professionals seem to think that a tad ambitious.....
It would be good to have the confidence to know that I had enough time to recover, not just as much time as they decide, almost on a whim. If I knew I had a year from now then I could plan - well if they move me from the Support Group to the WRAG, then I do have one year, because after that we are on income related benefits and that's the real poverty trap, as we stand on contributory based and with my DLA we stand a chance of both being able to work in the fullness of time DH first, then me... Its all very complicated and gets big in my head.
If we are going to be reduced to living on £447 minus 14% whatever because the council gave us a two bed flat we were in no position to refuse...........well we could..........but i want to be as prepared as can be., obviously.

We will help you hun. We will help you to adjust so you can survive and a bit more.
Also forgot to say earlier when I was rambling, if you have blogs and successfully blog, why don't you set up affiliate links on your blogs, that will bring in some money.
Also have you thought about getting people to pay to advertise on your blogs? reputable companies obviously.0 -
I am thinking about starting to do that, basically when i worked before there was no way i could have been identified with my writings, much of it was about my work and anyway eventually i ended up in big trouble for posting about work. I have a number of alter egos that frequent forums and discussion groups and all my blogs are set to private or a very close group of friends. I do like collaborative writing, and I am fascinated by the role of internet forums in support and education.
I think that the depressed me has no confidence and nothing much to say that isnt deeply cynical and well, depressing, the manic me thinks everything I bloody do is genius .... hard to get a true gauge, or very much consistency.... but yeah its an option.
I follow Piquant's diary and I believe she has had some success with paid writing, mind you her diary is excellently written AND she has a horse... I am deeply jealous of her.
I guess when i think about doing paid work i should consider that...thanks
