I love freecycle, I have picked up a few good things in the last year, and I have given loads and the people were so pleased! I picked up a 8ft trampoline with enclosure last week, bit tatty on the padded bit but you dont use that bit anyway, wicked! it has saved me from the easter holidays from hell! I have 3 boys and this has saved my sanity0

I've been on freecycle for maybe 6 months or so. Recently I've noticed there's more and more wanted ads, and for silly stuff like cars etc. I've received and gotten rid of a few items on there, no real complaints. The mod(s?) annoys me though, wouldn't accept an offered post as it had a link to my own hosted image of the item, and another ad because I put "will deliver for small contribution towards diesel"
The whole yahoo groups set up is rather crap, would be better with something more like a proper forum where you could go back and marked the origianal ad as "taken" etc. Also if users had proper profiles then you could see who posted a lot of silly wanted posts and make your choice based upon that;)0 -

todays top message
brilliant, just brilliant - the scary thing is these aren't tongue in cheek posts - they are genuine
Freecycle is becoming a laughing stock - if the mods can't keep things under control they should hand over the reins to someone who will.
Funnily enough I was thinking about it again this morning in bed and I think I'm going to look into selling stuff through Loot/local paper etc - I am becoming more and more dissilusioned with Freecycle by the day - darned shame
Flip side is you can't seem to get takers for lower valued items anymore - when I 1st joined I had some enpty DVD cases that I was going to throw away and I thought "no hang on you just never know someone might have a use for them", I posted on freecycle - had about a dozen or so of them, and within 90 minutes they'd been snapped up.
I now have some again and some spindle tubs - have posted on two local groups 2 days ago (having posted to FIVE groups a month or so ago - with no takers) and not a single enquiry - all waiting for those Plasma TV's eh   :mad:Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
