most annoying are the rude people who email and say i'm having that when i offer something,

Yes I had one similar to this : In reply to an offered post from myself the reply this guy sent was "I'll collect them tomorrow" ... and I thought like f**k you will you rude , cheeky **** :naughty:  .... a novel way of ensuring you won't be selected as the recipient.

Still made it easy for me to discount him from my short list :D

Sadly like in life generally there are some incredibly rude people out there and I think there seems to be more and more of them as time goes on.

and just to show that 16011996 and myself aren't the only ones getting disillusioned with the freecycle movement I have just read this post on one of the groups I am in:

"Just to say thanks to xxxxxxx and xxxxxxx for their much appreciated attempt to help me with info on xxxxxxxx.

sorry if I upset some of you moderators for asking for info but it was a genuine "wanted" that would not have cost anyone anything and I am sure I am not hurting anyone by asking. I mean, lets be fair, you let people beg for the most outrageous things over and over, many with the biggest sob story my heart bleeds, "

Another less than 100% content freecycler :(

I feel the mods need to start being a little more active and keep more of an eye out and clamp down a little. If they don't they may just run the risk of so many people getting narked off and not bothering with freecycle as they have become so disillusioned that they have had enough.

That would be a great shame as the idea behind it is such a good one and it used to be such a good place :(

I have occasionally pondered about posting a wanted for something really outrageous just for a laugh/to see what response it got (as opposed to the many scroungers who actually genuinely ask for expensive/unreasonable items ;)

Villa wanted south of France - With Pool preferred

Yes but if I give it to a charity shop the money goes to a good cause not to the fat lazy **********

Time before last I that I took some goods to a charity shop i was scowled at by the assistant. Last time I pointed out that there were some fragile goods in the bag and heard them crash as he threw them on the pile!

Freecycle is brilliant. It's so nice to have your unwanted goods collected and get a smile!!!

I myself am a member of freecycle and to date i have managed to obtain a tv and a printer (amongst other things) neither of which have any faults or anything wrong with them . These happily took the place of my worn out printer and tv which had gone kaput only days before.

Also I have freely given items that I have no need for and im sure someone can find use for.

I mean why pay for expensive replacements when you can get perfectly good items for free!!

I do admit there have been the down times when someone offers an item and once youve collected it you find out its got a fault or is completely useless but this is one bad point that some people use it to get rid of worn out items onto others without staing that it needs repair or some sort of attention.

I agree with Junier, when I moved to where I am now I had no wardrobe of my own due to there being 2 in the house I am renting, now that I am moving I found that I needed a wardrobe, I can not afford to buy one and would struggle to save up the money and would have not have anywhere to put my clothes, someone was offering one on freecycle, they were very happy for me to have the wardrobe and I even picked it up.

Yes you do occasionaly get people who will just take whatever your offering but you have a choice of whether to let them have the item or wait for someone else to respond, if no one does you put it back on a couple of weeks later.

I have not filled my house with items from freecycle but what I do have from there I use, even if I decide I no longer want it I would rather see if someone else can give it a new lease of life before I take it to the tip.
