freecycle- reuse dont bin

In response to the people moaning about people asking for too much on freecycle I just want to point out that it is not commercial. No-one is being exploited and everything is being saved from the bin. I also think that some people are taking the ** sometimes but I think you just have to give people the benefit of the doubt. There are loads of lovely people.
I asked for a lot when I moved into my new flat and managed to get almost all my furniture second hand. It wasn´t easy to do this and I would have preferred to buy a new set of crockery and a new bed etc but it is better for the environment and I forced myself to do it as a way of curbing my own consumerism.
I have also given lots of things away and think freecycle is a wonderful thing which helps communities bond. I have met some lovely people.
To the cynics out there, I think your anger would be better directed at the large supermarkets and not at the poor souls who get things from freecycle.24.06.14 12 st 12 lb (waist 45" at fattest part of belly)

Hi,
I use Free cycle in the North East, the only gripe I have about it is that on two occasions I have delivered items to someone because they can't make to my home, only to find they live in a very good area with a nice house and car. I then feel annoyed that my item didn't go to someone who couldn't afford it

i am a little cynical sometimes, like this morning someone has posted on a local one for a flat screen pc monitor, not a cheap item, and not "needed" as its only for cosmetic reasons, (current one takes up more space) thats the sort of thing that winds me up. i always feel we should be grateful for what we have, and even more grateful if we are lucky enough to recieve something off freecycle or any such thing. i've been very lucky off freecycle, haad some things that have made life easier and helped me immensley (much like yourself). just0 -

Is that the Preston or Blackpool freecycle? If it is the Preston one pm me or email me via freecycle (contact the mods) and we can ban that member. I need to know his id. I hate people who abuse the system and as Moderators we do all we can to stop this. ThanksWendy0 -

Agreed, and that sort of thing winds me up too.
I've given away perfectly good stuff through Freecycle that would otherwise have ended up on the tip. On each occasion, one particular member emails me asking for the item, and is frequently seen posting 'thank you's on the group. I now ignore his begging emails. I can't believe someone genuinely needs so many items every week - he/she is a trader in my opinion.
The greedy individuals who 'bag' a lot of items and those who ask for expensive items such as flat screen monitors, Vista ready PC's, and shopping lists, should be banned, as should those who post 'wants' numerous times a month. Freecycle's rules state that there should only be 3 'wanted' ads a month, but some members in our group clearly flout that.

Unfortunaletly a lot of people are "chancers" grabbing anything of value and then making money out of it. I agree people like this should be banned, but these "chancers" will always find a way resulting in depriving genuine people who are in need.[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]
