Good grief!!! That costs a few hundred pounds? If the spirit of Freecycle is to prevent things going into landfill, this one doesn't quite fit in :rotfl:

Exactly. Also I posted a few offers yesterday and the same man emailed asking for two of the items with 'can I have this please?'. No niceties, no hello, I spose I should be thankful that he actually said please. I'm waiting to see if anyone else offers them first!GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN

I'm 'glad' to see that most freecycle sites suffer from the same problems, I only joined my local site around 6 weeks ago, but have been totally amazed at the gall of some people! Asking for really expensive items like virtually new computers, cars, tv's, mobile phones etc.
Like Spendaholic Chick, i've now stopped giving my items to the first person to email me saying 'yes please' and decided to wait 24 hours. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of items going to those scroungers who reply to every single post put up then go on to flog the items on the swapit flogit sister site!! I know this happens as twice now i've seen an item i've freecycled end up on offer by the user i gave it to!
Freecycle is an excellent idea, but now it's become a victim of it's own success....far too many ppl posting wanted adds and offering nothing in return.
PS... WANTED a new pc please with windows vista, must be high specification and as new condition and can you deliver it and set it up for me as i'm too tight and lazy to save up and buy 1 myself0 -

As for me having "neither the courage or common human decency to reply", maybe if you'd have written a polite message to me instead of a mega-rant I might have replied. Like I said earlier, I have nearly 10,000 members to deal with in the one group alone single handed, not to mention my paid job (Freecycle is voluntary you know), housework, five children and their hobbies and a husband who is ill and undergoing tests for serious illness.
What did I assume wrongly?? You live in an area not covered by the group I run. And please tell me, all these things you're stating you've seen requested on the group who've dared to reject your message......I can quite confidently say you've never seen these things asked for on my group!
If these people asking for things on Freecycle offends you all so badly then maybe you should all reconsider your memberships.
LOL very good try at being funny some may think But this is exactly how the mods work.I have nearly 10,000 members to deal with in the one group alone single handed How do people like that manage to become owners of groups? we have seven locol groups in my aera (used to be one) all the same owner and mod names keep coming up. Look at us we mod 7 groups. Well rachel_belmont If your to busy moderating all your groups maybe its time you freecycled a fewGONE ENGLAND0 -

10,000 members, and you run it single handed? I live in a city, and there aren't even 4,000 members in mineEver thought of appointing moderators to help? With all your domestic commitments, I'm suprised you have time for Freecycle, let along joining this forum. But maybe thats why your one and only post to this forum was to this thread
