I've always been really lucky with free-cycle so far until last week.
I offered three really random items last week and got one guy asking for all three in the same e-mail. I thought that was a bit rude. Then I got one guy e-mailing me six times from 3 different e-mail accounts for the DVDs. Next time I'm dropping things of at the charity shop.

Hi guys.I have given away lots of things over the last month-not rubbish, and have delivered to people too.I am desperate for a wardrobe for my bedroom and have responded to 4 different offers with no success.Just wondered how do you choose who to give your items to-what am i doing wrong?? Also i have met some really lovely people who have mailed me after to say thanks but unfortunately there are people who i have delivered items to;left them where they have asked and they havent even said thanks-am i being old fashioned or is that plain rude??0

Your message was rejected because you don't live in the area covered by that group AND you didn't include the fact that you'd already posted it to local groups. I do try to check but with nearly 10,000 members I can't check all the time.
As for me having "neither the courage or common human decency to reply", maybe if you'd have written a polite message to me instead of a mega-rant I might have replied. Like I said earlier, I have nearly 10,000 members to deal with in the one group alone single handed, not to mention my paid job (Freecycle is voluntary you know), housework, five children and their hobbies and a husband who is ill and undergoing tests for serious illness.
What did I assume wrongly?? You live in an area not covered by the group I run. And please tell me, all these things you're stating you've seen requested on the group who've dared to reject your message......I can quite confidently say you've never seen these things asked for on my group!
If these people asking for things on Freecycle offends you all so badly then maybe you should all reconsider your memberships.0 -

Freecycle is an excellent concept. What irritates me personally are those who continue to post 'shopping lists' of expensive items - and I've seen plenty of that in my local group. The etiquette paragraph in the 'welcome' letter (which I believe is applied to all groups) clearly states:-
*Please post more Offers than Wants! We cannot stress this enough. Keep the Wanted posts to a minimum.
Be realistic and considerate when making requests. Our Freecycle group has very strict rules about
how many Wanted posts per person per month are allowed. Keep it to 3 wanteds a month please. Police yourself
on this one so we don't have to. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding on this very important matter.
I can send you the address of my local group if you'd like to check that out for yourself - feel free to email or PM me
