Bit of a question for all you experts. I am on a few FC groups got a lovely Holly bush and cat scratching post(from two seperate FC members but on the same group) Posted thanks as always got a incomprehensibale message from mod saying NOT to post thanks. So ok if thats the rule, glad to comply. I got something else from the oriiginal site this week, haven't posted a thank you (she is a member of this site so ahve posted a PM on here BUT... have seen at least 6 thanks on the same board:confused: Additionally I got some books from a different site, posted thanks and it hasn't been posted. Have sent a thank you card to the people I got the books from aam I missing something. The last thng I want to do is offend anybody either the mods or the gifters. We are having a bit of a difficult time and the items we have been given are making a big difference to us. I would like to publicly thank these people for all their help. Low value items to some but at the mo a Godsend to us. Any ideas?

    The rules are very simple.

There should only ever be 4 types of posts made.

OFFER xxxxxx - when someone has something (an xxxxxx) to give away
TAKEN xxxxxx - when the OFFERed something from the above OFFER post (the xxxxxx) has "gone" (not neccessarily collected) - stops further request for it.

These work as a pair and are posted by the same person

WANTED xxxxxx - when someone requires something (an xxxxxx)
RECEIVED xxxxxx - when the WANTED something from the above WANTED post (the xxxxxx) has been supplied by someone and further xxxxxx are not required.

These also work as a pair and are posted by the same person

You DO NOT post a RECEIVED if you take something that has been OFFERed by someone else.
If you have posted a WANTED, then obviously you can post a "RECEIVED xxxxxx - thanks for all that responded" (or similar)

You normally do not mention names or userids.

If you want to send thanks to an individual, why would you not just send them an email directly rather than posting it on a forum for the "world" to see ?
There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›
‹(•¿•)› Those that understand binary and those that do not!

Thank you for the very detailed reply. As to "why I would post publicly for the "world" to see" I had no idea it was such a seemingly offensive thing to do:eek: In my "stupid" simple minded way I thought I was recognising an act of kindness. I stand corrected.

anniestar, ignore quioa, they just seem to like to post to wind people up, they are better ignored. you posted a perfectly valied question and there was no requirement for such a venomous reply.

i can't see what you have posted for the world to see, no names were mentioned etc, so tto me you've done absolutley nothing wrong,

    big hugs

Whilst I agree with quoia on the rules, it does appear that they're not always strictly adhered to in some cases - which can be very confusing to say the least:o

It's a catch 22 - either fully moderated (which can be a pain and not very workable) or not (in which case you sometimes get 'unnecessary' messages).

I find the 'repeat' wanted messages more annoying though - if I didn't have it to gift yesterday, why would I suddenly have it today:rotfl:

Oh, and annie - whilst you're under the stairs see if you've any plastic bananas :D
