Hi Knitwit,
Holidays are tough moneywise. Part of the holiday is the buying of new things for it, be it clothes, shoes, beauty products etc. I remember going on holiday to Mexico and everything I had for it was new. I should have perhaps factored that into the overall cost and is one of the reasons I find myself in the situation I am now in.
Don't be too disheartened with the small contributions to the CC it all helps, and how nice is it to see the figure going down.
I checked my bank account yesterday and had an £88 surplus so paid £40 towards the card. Although I still don't know the true balance until I get my emailed statement so won't change my signature just yet.
I will keep the £48 for any emergencies. My remaining food budget stands at £14.45 and it's only the 13th still 15 days until pay day  Although I have budgeted for a course I attend once a week in London. I have to attend another day so that is unexpected train fare to London for the next couple of weeks. I made about £30 on ebay the other week so this has covered most of it.
On the overtime front. I just picked up another load I was asked about 15 shifts and have picked up 7. I know I said I would cut down and although I am doing well in this challenge so far, this is the tricky bit. I am pleased with myself for only picking up 7 shifts and spacing them out. The most shifts I will be doing in a row next month will be 4 and I am having 2 days off between sets of shifts so I can get a proper rest.
I am on course to clear it all but £400, If I could sell the items on ebay I could make about £100. I am also waiting for a £20 uniform rebate from hmrc. Also, I have a Loan ppi claim on an old bank loan which should refund me about £300. However, Martin's mantra is don't bank where you have debts. I could be successful ( the loan ppi was front loaded) but Barclays who I bank with really like to 'set off' I have an od, a cc, a loan and the cc I am doing this challenge on, with them. I am wondering if successful I could ask them to set off against this card. They may get nasty and recall my od, or they could set off against my lowest apr which would be the loan. If I want to clear this challenge by December I need to get a move on with the claim. oh what to do :undecidedDebt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
