Money mash, people first money second. Your health is the most importantthing. If you make yoursef ill working you will be off sick, thats not going tohelp. I believe in working to a budget and making sure every penny is spentwisely. Everytime I spend money I think is this worth taking me away from mygoal.
Best wishes
Hi Knitwit,
Wow it's day 13 already it's going fast. I am enjoying reading your progress. Despite all the motivational books I've read I have never heard the following 'Everytime I spend money I think is this worth taking me away from my goal (Possibly the reason why is it's an original from you). That has really helped. Especially today, as I finally got my loan protection refund, almost £1500. I was tempted to phone my loan company and ask what an overpayment would do, e.g reduce the length of the loan, or reduce the monthly repayments. However, I didn't as my loan whilst high at 14.1% my cc is even higher at 29.9%more than double! So I made a payment of £1200 to the cc. Which I feel good about but will feel even better about when I get my statement and see the lower balance, interest and minimum payment.
However, despite the cash injection now I will stall as I have definately decided to knock the overtime on the head. There will be times I won't be able to avoid it but no more 4, 12 hour night shifts in a row, no more 5, 12 hour night shifts in a row and not 6 or 7. I have up till now usually done 2, 12 hour overtime shifts each week on top of my usual 3, but I just can't do it anymore and don't want to as it's not appreciated anyway. I'm sure I am run down and the chest infection I am currently recovering from is the result!
I was buying things to sell on ebay a while ago but stopped due to being tired with the overtime and thinking it was easier to do an extra shift than all the ebay faffing about It's also a lot of effort when things don't sell orworse for less than you think the item is worth. However, I now think even if Ispent 5 hours a week with ebay, buying, uploading, answering buyers questions, packaging and posting items it's still 19 hours less than 2 night shifts, plusI wouldn't be losing sleep at night.
I am going to try budgeting, well I do have a food budget it is £80 a month but I am over by £21 already and still have 2 weeks until payday. Although, I have enough chilli for 12 meals (it was on special) and enough washing powder tablets for 12 months (it was on special) I can't resist a bargain but it blows my budget, although I should save in the long run.
Oh well Ebay here I come, I'll keep you posted. I really hope I can do it. Ialso worked out when the 150 days is up. You started on 3/8/12 so 150 days ends on 30/12/12. Interesting.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Mission to pay off £3000 C/C debt in 150 days
Why ? I want to start the New year debt free with a new budget
Day 1 (pay day- paid every 4 weeks so this is my month)
PAY £ 815
D/D £195
total £620 month £ 155 week available
G/C £ 50 will reduce this to £40 a week with meal planning and carefull shopping. Eating less as I am putting on weight I need to.:o
Deisel £15 a week, have been reducing my speed to 50/60 . I will be keeping a check on how many miles this gives me and will try and beat it.Trying to make a game of it to keep it fun.
Thats all for now . I will be keeping track everyday trying to use new ideas. Please feel free to have your say, I would love to hear from you and share ideas and support
All the best
I'd love to have a goal similar to yours. Can I ask what the D/D means that is under your pay at the start of your calculation?
I am paid monthly but could manage to do something similar as I'm paid a daily rate and in a 5 week month, then i've got extra.

Hi
Moneymash I'm glad your looking after yourself and taking it a bit easier. I have done a lot of ebaying in the past and looking to again. It's when you get the timewasters that messes it up, and when paypal give them a refund when something was the buyers fault  I'm sure there are people out there that use ebay for free stuff knowing how to play paypal and get refunds. Moan over sorry
.
I don't know if my quote is mine or not, I have studied NLP and hypnosis so it may have been out of a book. What they taught me is humans will always take the less painfull path. If you want to succeed you need to know it is more painfull not to do it. So if you want a magazine say £3, your thinking about the pleasure of reading it. Try and think of the pain of getting it home flicking through and it's just the usual stuff and you are £3 further away from dept free. It reminds me of a book I have called 10-10-10. Very simple , when making a decision think how this is going the effect you in 10 mins, 10 hours, 10 days, 10 years . Sometimes I want something , but when I get it out of the bag at home I have forgotten all about it. If I had thought , in 10 days would I rather have the cash or another black jumper, I would go for the cash.
Well done on your refund by the way
Duchesspink1 The DD is direct debits, I like to take this away first as it's not mine to use, rather than do it through the month

DAY 20
After having a good few days of no spending I had to buy some fresh food today £11.26
I was given a bag full of great books from a friend , that should keep me away from buying magazines. I use the library and rarely buy books as I pass my books on to others. Hours of entertainment free

It's a shame about the NSD couldn't last until day 22, it's always fresh food or something I've forgotten in my main shop that ruins my NSDs as well.
I had forgotten that we had a pizza at work and my share was £3.50 and I brought 2 cans of coke from the vending machine at work at a cost of £1.40. Next pay day I am going to stick to my £80 food budget. I have downloaded a budgeting app on my phone and hopefully that will help me stick to it.
It's good you give books away for others to enjoy. I love my books so much I enjoy re-reading them so like to keep them. My problem is podcasts, I have hundreds to listen to but my ipod is broke. Ironically I brought it from Argos, with my Argos card and it broke a few months before I cleared the balance off my card, that'll teach me.
I got my statement two days ago, but despite paying off a huge sum, my minimum payment has only gone down by £7. Although I guess this is because the payment I made was near the statement date. I have paid another £150 off but this is still technically some money left over from the PPI refund I got.
I am waiting for a free weekend on ebay then I can start selling again. Next pay day will be the last of the overtime for a while unless I pick up some extra shifts but it is so nice just doing my normal shifts and relaxing at home. I still have my cough so really I am still ill. Although I have worked out my pay for September which isn't too bad, but it is dire for October, I may have to bite the bullet if I don't make much from ebay.
I am enjoying following your progress, slow and steady wins the race.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
