DAY 4
Diesel budget blown. It did 129 miles = 11.6p a mile. Will be trying to beat that this time.I must say I am getting to like this slower relaxed driving. I have been having slower music on. The faster the music the faster I drive. Reminds me of the 80's when I passed my test and zoomed round in my mini to Topgun soundtrack . Back to today, put in another £15. Didnt use coupon as not near a Tesco, I will use it next time.
Tesco are doing the double up vouchers. Im planning on using some for cat food. With 3 cats that would be a big saving on the food bill. I think I will exchange £20 in vouchers = £40 of cat food for free. I think it's for laundry products to .
£ 155 budget

- 15.00 diesel

DAY 5
No spend day today.
I was watching the BBC horizon program last night (recorded). It was about fasting and how it is good for you mentally and physically . It is alleged to keep you healthier for longer into oldage. As a 45 year old it's something I am thinking about. Back to money saving, eating less saves money and is healthier :T
The programme came to the conclusion that eating 400- 500 cals a day for a woman, 2 days a week is the best method. Thats what I intend to do. So watch this space, I will be the lab rat !
This is not advice to others, I am only doing what I feel is healthy for me. I advise you speak to your doctor if this interests you. The programme may be on BBC i player if you would like to watch it .Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
I saw that programme!
Not sure I have the will power for it - 400 isn't a lot of calories. I would save on my lunch those days though!!0 -
Angel _ Jenny I do love my food so I will try and see how I go. Once I have paid off my CC it would be nice to give some money to charity. I think there is a week where you give up lunch and give the money to the homeless or something. I think I could do it easier if I was helping someone else.
Day 6
spent £ 1.97 milk/cottage cheese
I'm not finding much to sell. I think I need to go down the overtime root to bring in more cash.

Day 7
Review of the week
Money available after DD £ 155.00
Food - 44.09
Diesel - 30.00
Extras - 0.00
Money going to CC £ 80.91
I am happy with how the first week has gone . I was under budget on food, but way over on diesel. I am hoping I can keep diesel costs down next week.I will be renewing my library books online and go in when I am passing. More planning needed to reduce mileage.
I will be trying to spend less than £40 on food next week. Need to look in the freezer and make a food plan for the week.Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
Dont forget to empty the car of unnecessaries to reduce the weight and drive with windows up and air con off. Though if its too hot i believe windows down is best in slower traffic and windows up and air con on in faster moving traffic. Something to do with reducing the drag so the air con is more efficient at higher speeds
Also never fill full, a full tank of diesel will be adding extra weight to lug around therefore using more of it up
Sounds like you are doing really wellIve joined the % thread but if i hadnt i would be joining up with you here. I cant manage a lot of challenges :rotfl:
Sarah xDFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022
MFW Total £184,950 £179,066 to clear by 20350 -
Hi Happy tails
Yes I've heard aircon makes you use more fuel. I try not to use it if I can. Luckily I love hot weather, don't understand people who like cold air blasting them. DH always has his aircon on (not when I'm in the car!). I was trying to get £15 of diesel a week but may have to up this. Buying smaller amounts has helped me be aware of my usage.
Good luck with your % challenge . As long as we have a plan we will get there :beer:Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
DAY 8
New week £ 155.00
Food - 32.97
£122.03
I did a big shop today. I'm trying to only spend £40 this week on food. I have £7.03 left for milk etc, so should not be a problem. I doubled up my Mr T vouchers today for cat food. £30 of free cat food should keep them full for a good whileSew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
DAY 11
I had a very thrifty no spend weekend. Enjoyed working in the garden and going for walks. I cut DH hair on sunday so that saved him some money.
Needed diesel again. I did the same mileage £15 = about 130 miles, I wish I could stretch it further.
£ 122.03 left
- 10.00 deisel
£112.03 still to play with
I have a present to buy for a friend this week. I am thinking regifting something I have would help. I have a nice small bath set unopened. That and a gift voucher for £10 would work. Is recycling gifts ok? I think it's a green thing to do, but only if it is passed on within a year and not back to who gave it to youSew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
DAY 13
