My mission to pay off £3000 in 150 days

Mission to pay off £3000 C/C debt in 150 days

Why ? I want to start the New year debt free with a new budget :D

Day 1 (pay day- paid every 4 weeks so this is my month)

PAY £ 815
D/D £195
total £620 month £ 155 week available

G/C £ 50 will reduce this to £40 a week with meal planning and carefull shopping. Eating less as I am putting on weight I need to.:o

Deisel £15 a week, have been reducing my speed to 50/60 . I will be keeping a check on how many miles this gives me and will try and beat it.Trying to make a game of it to keep it fun.

Thats all for now . I will be keeping track everyday trying to use new ideas. Please feel free to have your say, I would love to hear from you and share ideas and support :D

All the best

  • Good luck on your mission. I'd like to see how you get on & might even do something similar as I have about the same amount on my Next account & credit card.

    Hi ,

I had an old savings book in the back of the draw, last used 2007. Ok so there was not much saving going on then either :o. Finally moved the money over to account to pay CC. So I'm £22.91 better off than I thought :D

Today I will be decluttering. Going through draws, what else is forgotten about at the back that I could sell, or can be made into cash.

So the question is, whats in your draws that = money and you have forgotten it?

    Happy hunting !

I've found bits of foreign currency in the past when clearing out drawers and cupboards. It can all add up if you exchange it all back and even with the currencies that aren't in circulation anymore there always seem to be collectors on ebay.

Well done linz, it all helps.

I have been sorting things into ebay, carboot and scraps (hoping to use fabric to use for toy, pet toys, cushions etc for car boot. Also found 4 watches , wondering how expensive new batteries are. If they still dont work it could end up costing me money!

We have had a good couple of hours at Toft Alpaca open farm day. Love the alpaca they are so cute. Really wanted to buy some yarn but at £12 for 50g I had to walk away. One day but not today :D. Free entry and hubby bought the icecream so zero spend day for me and a fun time for me, DH and DSD 11years

There is a chicken to be roasted and a bottle of wine in the kitchen. A cozy night in, this cutting back is not so bad so far ;)

    Cheers

Hello, will be watching and popping in every so often if you dont mind as I am on a similar challenge myself. (not to be debt free though *sob*) Last car payment 2900 due end of Dec. I too get paid 4 weekly so yesterday put aside my extra payment of 362.50. I am also putting my change in a tin and will be counting that in too so hopefully the last months wont be as high. Good luck

    What a great challenge!

Ok that settles it I am going to join this challenge too. I owe £3000.74 on my barclay card (previously Egg) Apr 29.9

I'm not sure how I will do though as I am waiting for a loan protection insurance refund of £1440.75 with a bit from this month's pay I intend to make a payment of £1593.04.

However, I may then stall. I work in private healthcare and for the last year I have worked at least 60 hours a week, this week will be 72 hours. Tonight when I go in will be shift 3 out of 4, then I have 2 days off then I am doing 6 12 hour night shifts in a row. I have absolutely had it with doing overtime, I am always tired, currently ill and fed up of doing nothing but working and sleeping.

It's annoying that just after a promotion and better pay the fight has gone out of me to pay off my debts asap. I am sooo tired and frustrated with poor management decisions, for my own sanity I need to stick to just 36 hours a week.

However, I have lots of stuff to sell on ebay and despite the hassle I think this is the way to go, at least it will give me a break from doing hideous amounts of overtime. I am also going to try and reduce my food shopping bill.

I am due to complete a health care course by September, which should also lead to another promotion and better pay. :)

I won't hijack your thread just post my updates in my signature and of course follow your progress by subscribing.

Hi Betty, good luck to you to. I think as long as we are moving towards our goal we are on the right track. I gave myself 150 days to help me focus on where I want to be, it's so easy to let things slip. If I was not on the 150 days I know I would have spent money today.

Money mash, people first money second. Your health is the most important thing. If you make yoursef ill working you will be off sick, thats not going to help. I believe in working to a budget and making sure every penny is spent wisely. Everytime I spend money I think is this worth taking me away from my goal. If its shoes I don't need NO, if its cheesecake MAYBE YES NO  Sometimes it's better to take things in smaller chunks . Someone is doing a 1% challenge, thats a good idea .Do what feels right for you, this feels right for me at this time. Remember the hare and tortoise, slow but sure got there. One step at a time.

Its great knowing we are in this together, please let me know how you are both getting on, good or bad. I will be confessing all, we all stumble but it's the getting back up that counts.

    Best wishes

    Day 3

    £155 budget for week
    - 42.12 food
    - 15.00 deisel

£ 97.88 4 more days befor this is C/C money, but deisel is getting low. The question today is, I have a 10p off per LT voucher from tesco. Should I get 2 or 3 weeks worth as I have low milage or just my 1 weeks budget . I am worried I will use more if I see a full tank. At the moment I am trying to not waste any because its low. It is scientifically proven if you use a bigger plate you eat more, if you use a bigger wine glass you drink more faster.

Spending the day gardening, when it's not raining and knitting when it is.

It will be left over roast chicken for dinner. No plan as yet, I will be looking for bottom of the fridge treasures for inspiration
