Knitwit, It must be an incentive and satisfying to pay something off the CC each week, I have to wait a whole month, then it's a few seconds online banking and it's done...However, it was payday for me yesterday as well. I worked the night before and thought I'd go food shopping I withdrew some money and my balance wasn't would it should have been, cue panic attack!!!, I've been paid wrong, I've got the hassle of sorting it out and waiting for the error to be corrected, or have I been the victim of fraud, have the bank recalled my overdraft, is the difference the total of all my DDs, due to come out Monday.
I had been paid wrong, someone else's hours I think, so I was £750 short! The company I work for is terrible for paying people correctly so much so we used to, until recently have validation slips 10 days before payday for such errors. They have stopped this now and if your hours/shift/shift allowance/annual leave is wrong they make you wait until the following month. Needless to say I was furious
I phoned my hopeless boss and he assured me he would sort it and told me to get some sleep, so I did for about 4 hours, then woke and checked my phone, nothing. So I had to go into work. When I get angry I struggle to talk becuase I am trying to control/stop myself blowing my top. I was so close to getting the rota and crossing off all the overtime shifts I had picked up and leaving them in the lurch!
However, not so hopeless boss said they were making a same day payment to my account, which in all honesty I should have checked before leaving for work. However, I was all fired up for the fight. Last month another member of staff was about £150 short which she had to kick up a fuss about and they paid it within a few days. I work for a place that if 'your face fits, then things can be done etc' I guess with me though it was such a huge discprency that had to resolve it asap.
Anyway went home and checked my online banking about 6pm and the missing money was there. So I paid £500 towards my credit card, not so enjoyable given all the fuss though.
Also, a thought occurred to me since my card is 29.9%apr and the challenge is £3000 in 150 days. In order for me to have a zero balance I will probably have to pay more than £3000 becuase of the interest added during that time.
I've started selling on Ebay I have a few items including two high value items, but only watchers so far and no bids!
I deleted the monthly budget app I downloaded it was complicated and in dollars, after installing and unistalling a few more I found a simple envelope budget app. My budget variables are the groceries £80.00, laundry £20.00(depending what washers I use) and overdraft interest £4.00.
My overdraft is £470, and last month I decided to save £310 towards annual and one off bills coming up towards this end of the year. Instead of putting my savings in my savings account I left them in my current account to cover some of the overdraft. Result, last months overdraft interest was £4.54, this month it is only £1.08 a saving of £3.46, which is more than I would have made from the savings account. So I have actually saved £2.92 from this budget and will add it to the groceries budget. I also brought a lotto instant ( a friend kept telling me she kept winning £15 and £5 a time) so I brought one for £2 and won £5.00, I will add the £3 to the groceries budget. So groceries budget has gone from £80, to £85.92 let's see if I can stick to it with my new budget app.
So current temporary balance stands at £1195, I'll know the true balance on the 21st. Also, the £500 payment was the last of the massive amounts of overtime. I am still doing overtime just nowhere near as much. Fingers crossed for Ebay.
Hi Betty, and well done!Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Hi
Betty you are doing really well , go girl
Moneymash £750 short  anyone would have had a melt down. At least it's sorted now. I know what you mean about your face fitting. I have the same thing but luckily my manager and a few others have left :T . I am looking forward to working with fresh blood. I usually get on with everyone but I was working with people who had worked and socialized together for 15 years.
I am off on a pre booked holiday soon so I have been preparing for that. Extra spends I'm afraid to say. But life is for living and I have promised myself that when I get back I will be ebaying and doing overtime to catch up. I have sorted a load of stuff for ebay ,so I will hit the ground running when I get back.Sew it, knit it, glue it, reuse it , don't buy it0 -
