I haven't received a statement as yet although they took the £3,000 (ie finally cashed my cheque) about 3 weeks ago. should i be worried?

There's no need to be worried as they have cashed your cheque. They took between 4 - 6 weeks to send me a statement of investment after taking the cash.

Wonder if they are going to match today's rate rise given they did for the last one.
  • My friend opened her ISA successfully with £500. She then deposited another £500 using the paying in slip in the pack by handing this and a cheque in at a Barclays branch. She holds no other Barclays accounts so couldn't transfer funds directly into her ISA.
At this point the fun starts. She went into a Barclays Branch to get some more paying in slips to be greeted with "We don't stock them, you'll have to contact our central supplies." She finally got through to them to be told that they don't send out paying in slips for the Tax Beater ISA. Their suggestion was that she send a cheque to a specified address. No receipt would be sent out to her! Monkeys!
...and then the window licker said to me...

The rate is 6.76% at the mo, but I must admit (as I haven't used it since opening it) I don't know whether that was in response to this rise or the last.

The link you gave states 6.76%AER (gross 6.56%) effective from 1.6.07. Hopefully they'll announce an increase soon following the latest rise.
  • I applied for the Barclays tax beater isa in March for that tax year, they wrongly opened it for this tax year. The situation has still not been resolved and I am unable to open an isa for this tax year because of the mess up. It is now over 8 weeks since I complained, is it time to write to the ombudsman? Any advice on the next step to take would be appreciated.

I opened my account in the first full week of April. So far I've had nothing from them to confirm my account opening, any welcome pack, any acknowledgement of my existence as far as they're concerned. My money's gone in, and after going to my local branch I've confirmed that there is an account open for me, but I think that over 3 months to get a single letter or anything out to me is a very poor show, especially since I complained about this about 3 weeks ago and was told that something would be with me "within the week"

I've raised a formal complaint about this through their online system, but naturally they've told me on that that it could take some time to process.
Quite frankly, if this wasn't the top paying ISA I'd be walking away right now. Barclays have an exceptionally slim chance of retaining me at the end of the tax year, and it's very unlikely that I'll go to them for any form of financial services again without a fairly major incentive!

    Update:

I got a letter from the complaints department today saying that they'll try to look into my problem before the 1st of August... Great work Barclays, just 4 months from when I go in to open the account to when I receive any paperwork for it, and only after I complain twice that I haven't had anything through!

It is probably a computer generated letter. According to their complaint procedure they should send you a response during first 5 days and then 4 weeks later send you another letter. I think that it is a computer who generates automatic letters so customer has a feeling that they actually work on his case. I have got a letter from them saying they will respond in 4 weeks time, and then 4 weeks later another letter that they will respond in 4 weeks time. According to their complaint procedure they should give me a name of my case manager. I asked them 4 weeks after I made a complain who is my case manager and they said they did not assign one. So as far as I know nobody is looking into my complain.
