I have just telephoned Barclays about a recorded delivery letter delivered to them on 7 June and have been told that "the mail we are working on today is for the 29th of May"!

i email all letters to replies@barclays.com , they acknowledge communications very quickly confirming that theve forwarded the communication to appropriate dept and provide unique tracking no ;). Actual replies arent forthcoming any quicker merely saves trips to post office, paying 1.00 a time to royal mail and making telephone calls. ( just keep sending email chasers)

I wrote on 8 May and have had an acknowledgment but was surprised yesterday to get a letter from a Customer Relations Assistant updating me on my complaint.

She promises a reply "no later than 24 July 2007". Suggested I may like to complain to the FOS and attached a leaflet explaining how :o

How about this for stupid - I followed the money saving tips ref contents insurance and the Barclays cash back thing was by far the cheapest. You may be ahead of me here but...

I paid the full £120 to Barclays on 13 June (immediate debit after phone call) but couldn't send my Budget insurance renewal documentation back until the Barclays documents came through. I did this immediately but no credit (about £80) showing on my credit card yet. I wonder how long that will take eh?

I stupidly forgot to cancel the Budget insurance until a day after the renewal date. I didn't realise they would take a debit off my credit card automatically (when did I agree to that???) so things aren't looking good at the moment as they haven't refunded either.

You have to be a bit organised for all this money saving stuff to work plus its probably best in hindsight to avoid any firms whose names begin with *Bar* icon8.gif

Yep - I also forgot to cancel my direct debit after my 100 free downloads so that was another £8.99 down....

Ah well - let's hope the energy switching works better although the very aggressive man from British Gas who rang yesterday to ask what on earth I was doing seemed pretty convinced that the comparison websites were biased as BG don't pay in. He didn't quite say I was stupid but got very close. Could he be right???

I'm still waiting......and waiting

Went into branch on 13th April (possibly, I'd need to check my cheque book) to provide the cheque and my passport and driving licence. Still waiting for something to happen - cheque hasn't even been cashed yet and it's july on sunday!! Off to the local branch tomorrow to find out what is going on. It really is a joke - I now remember why I left barclays years ago!!

I am all sorted with my ISA now i even can see £24.67 intrest :j added online through my Barcleys account which I think is right, though im not sure how to work it out  .

Intrest added on £1,500 back dated from 14/4/07 should be??

Can any one help out?

If anyone is still having problems I think your local branch is the answer.

Yes, similar £3046.44, with £16.88 credited this month. Curious how you managed to get 1p more than me!

I've also been paid £16.88 interest, like you, taking my balance to £3046.45. Not bad.:D

Yep they've updated mine fine....
3k in for 22nd March. Massive chaos...... for ages. Eventually another 3k in backdated to Apr 6th (for 07-8)
Interest to May 31st 6.31%
From June 1st 6.56%

So to date...........Well July 1st anyway..... That's 100.11 in interest......
That ain't bad either......

It took a little while to open a Barclays current account and to go on line to see my ISA account. Just had a look and it seems that I have had some backdated interest.

Interest for June for the two years £3k allowances was £33.80 which seems par for the course looking at other messages.

Unfortunately I can't see my transactions prior to beginning of June (how poor is that!) but my current total balance is £6,101.23 which seems to show that I have had full interest credited back to 1 April for both 2006/7 and 2007/8 ISAs :T

Thank you Mr Barclay - it obviously pays to complain - although shame we had to ;)
