Yes in the real world there are a lot of unscrupulous used car dealers out there. Obviously as your not one (or 2 of them) so you would include the tax/emission category of the cars you are selling in your advertising wouldn't you?
As I've said, in the dealerships I have worked for (main dealers I may add), cars were not delivered to the customers without tax. Personally I do not see what benefit it has to either the customer or the seller in not having the dealer tax the car... at the end of the day, it has to have tax so the dealer may as well tax it. After all, when buying a new car the tax is usually not included in the screen price so the customer pays anyway.
But then I suppose its down to what kind of customer service you want to provide.

And you have shown me that you are probably one of those grubby back street traders who don't give a toss about your customers once you get your grubby paws on their hard earned.
FACT: cars must be taxed before being driven on the road and as such the seller may just as well tax it as part of the deal on behalf of the customer who ends up paying for it anyway. Its what good and reputable dealers do, simples.

What bit dont you understand?
ive explained that to be competative in autotrader you have to pare your price down to compete with other good dealers/ part time dealers posing as private sales /and of course motor traders that only trade to rob you.
I see all sorts come and go because its in my interest to be aware of competition both fair and fowl.
The op has already explained in a round about way why they took the car with no tax and because you dont understand i will reiterate the reason why,they didnt want the dealer to tax their new purchase at the back end of a month and so get poor value from this part of their road tax.
For your information my business is run from the same position for the last 20 odd years so i think i know a little bit more than you and have many repeat customers over the years ,we also do our own in house safety checks and always offer our own in house warranty that is always included in the price,this way cars go out in the knowledge that they will be both safe and reliable as best they can,i never ever offer free road tax and never will, its a tax as ive also explained and is sold by the government ,i have also explained that at no aditional cost to the customer other than the price paid we as a business are willing to tax at cost,this means even if we have to travel 25 miles to the local dvla office or 7 miles to the nearest town we dont add a labour charge or a fuel surchage for doing this,this is called service and is something im a stickler on.
To conclude, any business that gives free moons on a stick to customers to the detriment of bottom line profit is heading for a fall,look around you in any sector of any market and if you were a serious businessman you would realise you cant get a quart from a pint,i suspect you are just a pen pushing servant of a boss though so dont appreciate profit and loss0
