Thanks Keith,
I'll take a look at Remeha (as if I know what I'm looking at!). What size should I be looking at please? 24? 28? 30?
Thanks again,

I second fitting Broag Remeha boilers.
They are my main boiler to fit. If you are fitting another combi then the boiler should be sized for your hot water usage and the installer will range rate the boiler down to suit the heating side, probably around 15Kw from your description of your property.
The new Broag Avanta Exclusive range come with a standard 5 year parts & labour warranty.

If you have baths then look at the 28Kw or the 35Kw.
You need to have your cold mains flow checked first. You will need at least 13l/min for the 28Kw and 15l/min for the 35Kw, with a pressure of ideally at least 1.5 bar0 -

I live 0.5 miles from the Worcester manf plant, mates work there, I wouldn't buy 1.
I live about 8 miles from Gloworms plant in Belper, have a mate there who gets me his staff discount on boilers.
Got quite a few for friends that have had them fitted. No issues.
And no, not on commission, just expressing experiences, although I bow to those in the trade that fit many more.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Thanks gas4you,
We rarely use the bath, very occasionally when the grand children visit perhaps. We don't have the shower running off the boiler either as an electric overbath is fitted. (Was our builder lazy originally in '88? Perhaps or perhaps the advantages weren't fully understood then or the boiler (Ferroli) didn't have the capacity? Who knows but the electric shower has been a godsend when the Ideal has regularly failed in winter!)
We have very powerful water pressure though can't give you a technical number!
Although trechnically three bedrooms only two are used as such and there is only me and the OH (who can walk about half naked in the middle of winter, brrrr!) in the house.
Hope that further info may help in your advice. Someone mentioned Baxi to me above Vaillant and WB due to the internal parts being metal as opposed to plastic (?). Any truth in that please?
The Remeha Exclusive looks a bit better than the Plus though as it's in a cupboard it doesn't really matter.
Thanks very much again,
Spigs
PS Nice baiting there cyclonebri!!! lolMortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -

Is that quite a few for the same friend cause they go wrong ?
IMO you have 3 classes of boilers, at the top is Remeha, Worcester, Vailiant (maybe), in the middle are Glowworm, Baxi, Vissman, at the bottom the rest, you not only have to consider the price to buy you also have to look at on going service costs, price of spare parts & reliability, you buy a cheap boiler like ferroli, biasia (spelling) you will get what you pay for a cheap boiler that is going to go wrong when you don't need it to, ie the pile of c*ap you currently have on your wallI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Hmm, interesting Keith, thank you.
Never heard of Remeha until you mentioned them above!
I think the one a work colleague mentioned may have been the Viessmann. They look quite good from what I can see. They also have a list of installers in my area which is useful. I'll have to wait and see what the likely price differentials are though.
Would you believe that pile of carp was installed under the Big Green Boiler Scheme (by a CORGI installer)? It was, honestly.
Thanks again,

If you are rarely going to run baths, then I would advise the 28Kw in the Broag, or 30Kw in other makes.
No point paying for something you won't make full use of, unless you have plans to rip out the electric shower and fit a drencher type running off the combi, then go for a 35Kw.0
