Timmne, I have nothing to add to what has been said other than to wish your girlfriend a speedy recovery.
She is lucky to have a caring boyfriend.
Good luck to you both.

About risking my life for my employers possessions / cash !Not a chance about what?
I am a manager too, and get roasted on one side for my stockloss but still have to adhere to this 'non-conflict' policy.
I admit too, that I confront many a shop-lifter, but always do it from a safe distance, and I would never do it outside my store.
I am sorry about your GF, and I hope she feels better. I was just stating about how my own company would deal with such an incident and it does have a way of making us (most certainly me) adhere to the policy.
Unfortunately I have seen at least one person dismissed for just grabbing a shoplifter's jacket - as they ran out the store. There was no physcial contact with the shoplifter's body, but HQ took a very serious approach to the incident.0 -
Sorry bout your girlfriend, I think tesco should give your gf a medal for bravery!
Its very easy to say she shouldnt have chased them but if youve not faced this situation then nobody knows what your reaction would be.
What a nice bf you are!!!Just to win anything would be great!!0 -

I personally as a shopper would avoid your place just to show my respect to the people who have doen their best and been dumped on because of trying their best.
As for the OP gf i wish her a speedy recovery and hope she feels better or more like herself soon.
having worked in small shops and doen the walk about task during peak times, i was never told even at just 18 that i should let them get away with stealing, its wrong. and shouldnt be condoned in any way shape or form.
hugs to you both xsus x0 -
Wow, sorry to hear this.
I suspect a lot of your anger is because you weren't there to do anything about it and protect her - that's how I'd feel anyway.
Just hope you bump into the scrotes in an alleyway sometime...0 -

I agree - I was really hoping when I arrived at the shop that they had the kids in custody so I could give them something to worry about.
I've had a headache all day through worrying about her - she's had to go back to hospital as her wound is not healing particularly well.
All because little boyo decided he should hit her... :mad:0 -

As far as I am concerned my company shows much respect to their employees in that they do not want them to be injured on account of depending company property. Our lives are worth more to them stupid stock on the shelves !
Could Tesco replace the GF if worse happened. No, so let the bloody stuff get shop lifted (it is replaceable, people ARE NOT) !!
I know it goes against human instinct but I think it is a brilliant policy and how many times can I say it has saved the lives of my staff and me, as well as customers. Perhaps everytime a shoplifter comes in, for who knows what they carry beneath their jackets !!
s not worth what ever those thieving boys were after !!0 -
awww I want a guy like you! I think your g-f's very lucky in that way. I really hope she'll be ok. I'm sure the kid would go back into Tesco again, they normally do, she may recognise him & even if not, if he's like that one day he'll slip up & get caught I hope. Have the police got anywhere? I wonder about the parents, if they're still at home (The yobs this is). I'd make my kids life not worth living if my kid did that.
Have Tesco's been any help? I'm with Asda & they wouldn't be. Tell your g-f we're all hoping she's gonna be feeling better soon x0
