My GF has been attacked!

Thats really awful, I hope your g/f recovers soon.
Perhaps she may consider going to the press? It may make someone feel guilty enough to 'grass' up the ********
Hugs to your g/f .x0 -
I hope your girlfriend has a full and fast recovery.
More than that I hope that Tesco are supportive of her.
I'm not sure why so many people are advocating that you contact a solicitor-there are far easier and more appropriate means of getting support and assistance.
The police will pass your g/f's details to victim support who are tremendously helpful to victims of crime....and if/when the time comes. they'll help with a claim to the criminal injuries compensation board.
Allow the support to come to you, as it will, and ocncentrate on supporting your g/f in the meantime.:)0 -

That can actually compromise a proper police investigation of the crime-best to let them get on with it, the chances are the police may issue an appropriate press release anyway0 -
Thanks all for your replies.
The point of my post really was to let off steam about the attack, that a horrible kid attacked my 5ft 22 year old girlfriend.
Her shop usually has security, but yesterday it didn't for one reason or another. As manager she gets to choose when there is security and when there isn't, but she didn't expect to be attacked at 6:05 so didn't have any security staff in.
Her training tells her not to get involved with anyone shoplifting, but her instinct tells her the opposite, which is where the problem lies!
She's not looking for compensation as a) she's not that kind of person and b) it was her that chased the guy and this was contrary to her training so she was 'in the wrong'.
She's now awake and up and beginning looking into bringing in self defense lessons in for her staff.
Still angry though!! :mad:0 -
I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a terrible start to your day and I know it's not much help speculating but here's my twopenneth anyway...
six lads out shoplifting at 6 in the morning? Most lads of that age don't get out of bed til mid afternoon on a sunday so sounds like they're after money for drugs to me. If they're off their heads they might not even remember what they've done or where they were so maybe they'll foolishly come back to the shop another day - and as they were on cctv inside the store they'll probably be recognised by the staff and hopefully locked up.0 -
if there is usually security but there wasnt that morning then tescos must be accountable.
maybe a bit premature but she should consider a compensation claim.
hope she gets well soon.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
Aw.... just read this post and I'm so sorry for your GF.
Yes - all common sense says not to chase - but I've been there and I can totally understand why she did. I did the same thing - and the shoplifter first tried to strangle me and then tried to push me through the shop window, before my assistant manager pulled him off me.
Its what made me leave retail.
The best thing you can do is just to be there for her.

look after her! keep her strong and do everything you can to catch these !!!!!!!s and get the hopefully locked up! instinct yes i used to do it all the time chase them across the car park then one day i thought why the heck should i this company doesnt give two hoots about me if they did i wouldnt be chasing criminals stealing their goods they would have a male security guard if they did!! she could tell them that she will look after the store only if they have a security guard there in case this happens again!"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

So sorry to hear of the attack ... hugs to you and your GF. Hope they catch the b*stards. When a friend of mine was attacked he got in touch with our local victim support organisation because he felt very nervous to go out again. They were wonderful - http://www.victimsupport.org/0

That's dreadful.. I hope your girlfriend is going to be okay and that long term it doesn't effect her to much. I come from South Africa and have been a victim of crime myself. Hope the IDIOTS who did this will be caught and thrown in jail....if they are caught and get off with a slap on the wrist make a big noise.....even go to the press of necessary. Good Luck with everything.
