How on earth do you pick BBC Sports Personality of the Year? Do you go for:

The man who's eclipsed Steve Redgrave in the number of Olympic golds

    or

The first British man to win the Tour de France who also went on to gold

    or

    Britain's most successful ever sailor

I think it will between the top two, but it's a tough call. What an amazing show!

I have often been accused of being too focused on the jerk, mainly by my focus of attention.

I'm a bit confused by this award. By "sports personality of the year", do they mean the most likeable/successful sports person in the past 12 months, or do they mean only the most successful (ignoring their personality) ? If they are ignoring personality, why not call it "British Sportsperson Of The Year" ?

    You forgot John Terry.

Actually he'll probably go up on stage anyway.

Five medals already won in the boxing (could be six), we just need to know the colour.

The Olympic snipers are out in force on Newsnight and in the papers today(elitism, diversity, local community - yawn) can't we be left to enjoy a little light during these ongoing dark economic times :(
