NCP ticket in ASDA car park II: Return of the ticket

Hi Guys,
A little while ago I posted up a thread about getting a ticket in an NCP ASDA car park.
I was driving my fiancees car which is registered to her parents address. I was all up for leaving the letters to come (as was she), but her dad is pretty upset that she's getting these letters and wants me to pay the fine.
I won't give any specifics as I know they check these forums, but suffice to say the ticket itself was incorrectly written, with the time of issue BEFORE the time first witnessed and the time first witnessed well before the time I could have been in the car park by 45 odd minutes (it was outside my lunch break).
I rang them up and they said to write in. I told the guy I'd lost the ticket and could I have the times of issue, he gave them the other way round, so has obviously noticed and is clearly lying.
Anyway, is there much point in going through their appeals process or will they just tell me to shove it? If so, how can I get them to stop sending letters without paying them? Does anyone have any experience in taking this route? Normally I'd leave it and keep myself warm burning the paper they send me, but obviously her dad isn't happy about this.

Appealing is generally a complete waste of time. You are far better to ignore this from the outset.
Let your BF's parents know about the scam, so they are prepared for the letters arriving in their name. The Forum Sticky and Watchdog clips ought to set them right.0 -
My fiancee is female, just clear that up from the start
I've already explained, but it doesn't seem to have helped. I was hoping I might be able to do something with the incorrectly filled out ticket.0 -

If the letters bother him that much then just write to them saying you were the driver and this is your address. From then on you will get the begging letters and can ignore them. All aboard the Gus Bus !0 -
SodG24 beat me to it.
Yes, in this exceptional circumstance it IS worth appealing, just to get them to send YOU the letters instead of your fiancee.
That way her Dad will no longer be involved.
You can then ignore all the threat-o-grams.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
You could just tell him to mind his own business. It's not his problem in any way shape or form. The letters are not addressed to him and do not concern him. By the way, it's not a fine!.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Eurgh. I can't believe I referred to it as a fine! I feel dirty!
I don't want to get into an argument with him about it as he's a genuinely nice guy and doesn't mean any harm, is just scared that they're going to get into issues over it. I can see where he's coming from, after I got my first speculative invoice I was worried about it too (until I researched it).
I'll write to them recorded delivery outlining everything and let them come after me instead.
I'll also be sure to point out that any further letter sent will be invoiced at £20 a time and that anything received other than a letter acknowledging the end of the matter will be treated as harassment.0 -
Keep it vague. Don't actually admit anything if you can avoid it.
Something like 'One of your tickets (copy enclosed) was left on my vehicle. Can you please let me know why?'
Put your name and address on it. Note you are not even admitting to being the driver, but you should get their interest instead of your fiancee. You can then ignore all the letters.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
As above, use the PPC's greed against them. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Agree with the above, write and hook them in your direction instead.
Sorry but the Dad sounds thick...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
