I doubt you will hear from the OP again. Did it really happen?
I wondered whether it was one of these 'one-trick' gimmick accounts but the poster registered in 2008 and has over a thousand posts.
They have not been back since posting but not everyone checks the site daily. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I agree.
I can't see anything in the original post that suggests it's a wind-up.0 -
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay in coming back
1, It was a vent so i didnt expect any responses
2, Manic week where washing machines broke down, work dramas and family issues.
I am very sorry to say the establishment was in a city i dont normaly frequent and i can not remember the name. I dug franticaly through my purse for the bill but could not find it.
The place was in Oxford near the corner of the high street in a kind of cut through. It had decking on to the pavement with umbrellas and patio heaters. It was a modern/wood interior with the till on the right as you go in. (anyone able to deduce its name from this discription?)
Hope that helps, Sorry.
(The guy was shabby, not to clean but not filty/smelly either - he did not have a dog)Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
that's so out of order of them I bet the poor guy was mortified! did his meal not get paid for then if they wouldn't take your money?
I hope this one bad experience won't put you off helping the less fortunate in future OP you're clearly a nice person.0 -

I doubt he could return that for moneyyes, it is far better to buy someone a meal than give money to some of the 'big' charities. just look up their annual statements and see how much money goes on 'salaries', advertising, corporate 'events', even hospitality! very little of your money actually reaches the people/animals it is intended for.
so, go on OP - name and shame!0 -
You do need to check out your charities carefully. I wouldn't give to these:
"The College of Law, a charity which provides legal education, has defended the £440,000 salary of its chief executive, Nigel Savage, and the £410,000 wage of its deputy chief executive Alan Humphreys.
If follows criticism in the Telegraph this month, of the salaries of John Belcher, chief executive of housing charity Anchor, who received £391,000 in 2009 and David Cowans, chief executive of housing charity Places for People who earned £297,000 in the same year."Je suis sabot...0 -
I too would rather buy a tramp etc a meal than give them some money.0

Well done for trying to be a good guy OP, shame the place made you feel bad about it.
Me too!
I'm currently loved by several of the homeless men around me (and their dogs) for bringing them some lunch, some water and usually a few cigarettes and some dog food and treats too.
In fact at christmas I went down to their tent and took them some christmas dinner. They're so lovely and have stood up for me in the street several times when rude people have upset me.
For example accused of stealing someones purse because she left it in the supermarket so I bought it out to her! The homeless men kicked off and said I wasn't like that, Manager came out to deal with it and ended up checking with the woman who'd served me (told him which till I'd been at) and sure enough I wasn't a thief and she was just rude. People don't realise how sweet they truly are and how useless the job centre is!!
They barely get enough to live on (as not having a fridge etc they have to buy food daily) and can't get work due to needing an address for that. The council and job centre just ask if they have a tent and leave it at that :@:@ if I had space I'd probably rent them a room for a bit until they can get a place lol£5 A Day Challenge - September £0/£155

no problem - Go and look at the RSPCA annual report.0
