Honeymoon, are you having one?

So I was thinking about our honeymoon and possible places to visit. I'm not sure if we'll actually have one or where we'll go if we do, so that got me thinking about what you are doing?

My OH hasn't left the country since well before he met me, and didn't even have a passport for the majority of our relationship! Because of this I really do want to have a long haul no expense spared affair! If getting married isn't a reason to go somewhere fancy, I don't know what is! Although its a bit early to plan one as most flight schedules aren't set for when we'll want to go, but any ideas would be awesome! We're not really lounge on beach people so maybe a long city break somewhere?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

We're having a mini moon in Wales after the wedding. We found a wonderful cottage through a company called sheepskin life which is totally isolated and just perfect for enjoying each others company. We're then going to have a fortnight in Italy when he comes back from Afghanistan in October next year.

we went on a med cruise! it was amazing! so much to do on and off the ship!
  • We haven't decided yet but are thinking of going to New York for a long weekend. It's somewhere we've always wanted to go and we're both 'walking round cities looking at historic buildings and trying new restaurants' people - if we went to a beach resort we'd be bored after about two days (although nothing wrong with people who like doing that, it's just not for us!).

Pretty much sums us up too! I did find a cross USA train tour with stops in different cities starting in LA and ending in NYC! But that is probably a bit too expensive at around £4000 for both of us for 15 days... And OH isn't sure that he could put up with me on a train for more than 4 hours at a time! I have the attention span of a child!

We're usually the same (our big holidays tend to be road trips in the USA and we do a lot of city breaks) but for our honeymoon we DEFINITELY want the beach resort - and as luxurious as it gets! I figure it will probably be the one and only time we do this (unless we have some money for holidays when we're old) as ordinarily we wouldn't 'waste' a big holiday lying on a beach. So we want to go somewhere amazing, as luxurious and exotic as it comes, and spend a week lying around in the sun, being waited on, drinking cocktails and eating great food :) We're expecting to be pretty tired; not just from e wedding and the lead-up, but because we're getting married in April, which comes at the end of a really busy period for both of us at work - so a week of luxury in the sun sounds just the thing :)

I have fallen in love with this place.... http://www.leblancsparesort.com/ :):):)

Hell yes I am but then I live for my travels! We had the holiday booked but moved the wedding to make it honeymoon. Then we are having another in September as the island I wanted for honeymoon was too expensive in April, will give me something to look forward to when we get back!!

Daisiegg, my boss went lo le blanc for his honeymoon, had the presidential suite on the top floor. He has been to a few in Mexico and really liked that but also did royal playa del Carmen for his anniversary and said it was most definitely comparable.

If I'd picked Mexico I think it would have been the el dorado casita royale with the infinity pool but you know me and my fishies!!

Have just inquired about dinner at the underwater r:Destaurant at anantara kihavah, I did say yikes at the price but might push the boat out

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

We're going to Marrakech. Not exactly long haul, but the other two options were Mexico or Malaysia, and they were too expensive after the wedding. We're the same, we like to go and see things, not quite adventure holidays, but the idea of sitting on the beach just feels like a wasted holiday to us.

    Hiya,

Were having a weddingmoon:D because we are getting married abroad so in theory the whole 2 weeks we are there is the honeymoon even the time before the wedding, I think you have to look at it that way. I've told H2B that we need to take more spending money than normal as I want to splash out & have different meals etc. H2B has also booked us into an amazing small luxury hotel for 3 nights so we can get away from everyone & treat ourselves, I really can't wait. The whole two weeks will be great though. If your interested in having a peek here's the link. http://www.melenoslindos.com/Default.aspx

  • I am probably the luckiest B2B alive - we are having two incredible Honeymoons and not paying for either ourselves! Long story, and totally unexpected, but here goes.

The original idea was to go to Walt Disney World in Florida with my mum and then tack on a week in the Caribbean alone first (seeing as it's in the same part of the world.) But then my fiance's parents wanted to do Disney again too - but could only do it in Summer, 4 months after wedding.

So...we really saved up and decided to do a 10night Jamaica holiday straight after the wedding in April, then 2 weeks in Disney with his parents in August. We had the money for it all, then, my mum announced she was paying for Jamaica. Gratefully we booked 11 nights here: http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/brochures/caribbean/holidays/caribbean/jamaica/couples_negril/ - best of both worlds with beach holiday and interesting places to do excursions.

Then, for the DisneyMoon, we had to book quite quickly as the Free Disney Dining offer was ending. We'd saved the money so, with the in-laws' agreement, we booked. Next thing I know, they're sending too much towards the deposit. When I returned some of it, I'm informed that they thought they were paying for Disney! After much protestation, I had to accept their incredible generosity.

So no, I'm not having one honeymoon, I'm having 2! *pinches self to check it's real*
