Hopefully, the postman will bring the answer tomorrow ;)

Evening guys :j I had my test drive of a Vauxhall Meriva this afternoon and it was lovely. Got a price for new  and one year old, but will be going to Nissan dealership tomorrow to check out the Note too, so will decide next week

I have been clearing out under the bed tonight   I have found Molly several times playing with glas bead type things and other Christmas decoration style bits and I know she is getting them from under the bed. Well, I found that the plastic storage box with my large Christmas garland in, was minus it's lid ;) She had been stripping the decs off the garland, bit by bit   Anyway, I have cleared everything from under the bed, including plenty of dog hairs , and will keep it clear from now on. Both Bess and Molly loved helping me  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I now have another 2 bin bags to add to the 2 I already had, to take to the tip tomorrow, and a box of ornaments, crockery, etc to take to the charity shop. Which reminds me, I got a letter from the charity last week informing me that they had made £111 so far from stuff I had taken in, and this will increase with Gift Aid, so I was well pleased with that :j :j

It was lovely full sun this morning but it clouded over lunch time and it has been raining most of the time since. Looks ok now, so I will take the doggie out for a walk animal0019.gif animal0019.gif

Hello, :) I'm new to this part of the forum. Came across your diary about a week ago; I'm so sorry to read that you have lost your DH to cancer too. The similarities in our journeys are startling but you're doing much better than I am, :o I just wanted to say "Well Done" and "Thanks for galvanising me into action" which happened when I read that you've already sorted out your late DH's pension and can now look at buying a new car.. It was my LBM.
That won't be on my list once I've sorted out the paperwork, as daft dogs and I are quite happy with our old van which is tatty on the outside but mechanically sound - I find boy-racers give me plenty of room on the roads when they see the scrapes down both sides caused by 4x4 drivers in Tosco's car-park. :rotfl:
My aim is just to sort out the finances for my new, somewhat alarming 'post-DH' world.

    Hi all
    Hope all are well

Escaped to Buckinghamshire to stay with my Aunt for a couple of days,(78yrs old and totally devoid of technology!) was good to be away from all the sad looks and 'sing song' voices asking how I am! I know people mean well but I was starting to feel like some kind of exhibit!

Dinner on the 9th was good, just went for a curry but we had huge Naan breads on hanging hooks and you just grabbed bits off! Almost tribal!! Raised a glass or two in memory of my hubbie and Han and Doms dad.

Have not gone back to work yet and I must admit I am liking it :D have been busy in the garden, have painted my bench and am half way through giving my garden gnomes new jackets and hats!! They look soo fine! Emptied a couple of drawers as I had 2 charity bags and got a new bed linen set (final clearance at TKMaxx!).
Off to Ikea today with Hannah as her boyfriend reckons she is the 'messiest person he knows and has far too many clothes for 1 person'...like I need to be told that! I had her at home for the best part of 23yrs!!! so we are off in search of storage for her flat! will probably indulge in meatballs, chips, gravy and jam for lunch!

Good news on the car Susan, have you chosen yet or still test driving? Nemo too is a hedgepig freak! We know he's found one in the garden cos he does a really high pitched bark and usually gets spiked on the chin! Why he doesn't realise they hurt is beyond me! 5 1/2 pounds! Well Done you!!!

JJ any news on the house sale yet or your move? Hugs to you and your brother. well done on your weight loss!

Beanie you can celebrate early! how big a Birthday is it? You do realise its just a number and you will feel no different in mind its just the body that notices!!!

Boult nice to see you! Keep watching the films and send some of your spare sleep my way please!

Hi Aesop, shame about the jury service you would probably have enjoyed something outside your normal routine. Are you going to be home-schooling your DS? We lived in the States for 4 yrs and an awful lot of people do it over there.

Welcome *Robin* its surprising how many of us are in the same boat, this is a nice thread to join. I'm reknown for being a crap poster but love to pop in to see everyone and put in my twopenny worth of inane banter about once a week! (lazy woman!).

    Take care all

Sorry I didn't get to post last night - got caught by the 1am maintenance on the site

Anyway, I have been test driving the Nissan Note today and found they had some on special reductions so ............ definitely going for the Note, just have to pick through the choices, moneywise :eek:Scarey, as it is a lot of money, but Alan wanted me to get a new car to make sure I had very reliable transport and for it to see me through for a good while ;)

    Hi Susan,

I hope you don't mind me stopping by your thread. I am relatively new to this forum, and I only just so happened to click on your journal. I am touched by your story and I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss, although I am sure many others will agree with me when I say it feels like I have known you years as I read your posts.

My father (not biological) passed away from brain cancer at 47 years old. I was 18, so 8 years ago now. He was diagnosed at 36, so he held on quite a while but the deterioration started long before he noticed, losing his balance, excessive sweating etc. I always called him Dad because he met my mother when I was 2, and pretty much raised me as his own. As well as my mum and I, he also had to say goodbye to his twin daughters, they were 8 at the time.

Anyway, this post shouldn't be about me. I am usually good with words, but I am feeling a little stumped....I just wanted you to know that your words have spoken to me. I also want to express my appreciation and thank you for continuing to show such a kind spirit after all you have gone through. To be able to inspire others in times of hardship, when others around you would crumble is testament to your strength and character. Alan is a very lucky man, and I am certain that he is so proud of you.

Hiya MiddyMum and welcome to my diary thread. I see that ba****d disease struck in your family too but you Dad battled it a very long time, that must have been hard for everyone in it's own way. Thank you for your lovely kind words hun, they are really appreciated, and I would love to see you popping in again for a chat :j :j

Hi Susan, hope you are getting a decent sleep.

Job centre people are a strange bunch but can be so kind when they see genuine clients. I was signing on last year for about 5 months and they were great to me but I uppose I was nice to them too (used to work for DHSS in a younger life so know what it is like to be on the other end)

I too lost at fat club (WW) yesterday - 1.5 lb. I have now got my 10% award so feel great. I need to put a little more effort into it though. Bought the Hairy Dieters book and am going to try some of their recipes. I think they would be good for SW too. Made the lasagne with leeks instead of pasta last week and even DS said it was great.

Haven't been posting as I have had a bit of a week - we have had another viewer to the house and it is nail biting as they want to buy but are waiting to see if they can get a motgage. Also work is being a bit of a pig and when not there I just want to sleep - they also have me finshing at 5pm for some reason (the phones are supposed to be manned until 6) and the traffic is horrendous. I have to drive from one side of the city to the other so hit it in all directions. So looking forward to selling the house and telling them where to stick the job.

Anyway glad things are going fairly smoothly and that the dogs are settled - can't let Kelso on our bed, he takes up all the room :D

Hi JayJay - good to hear that you've had another viewing of your house, so fingers crossed for a quick sale

I used to work for the DHSS too :D When I started there it was the MPNI :o:o I used to work in their Central Office in Newcastle and became a National Insurance Officer when we moved down this was in '85 till my ill-health retirement at the end of 1989

Good luck with the weight loss and keep going hun. We can do it if we try our best :j

First of all *Robin*, I must apologise for not replying to your pm yet. I kept putting it off as I am finding it hard to motivate myself at times. So I was so pleased to see that you had posted on here :j :j

Your story certainly is so close to mine, even down to the dogs and the tatty van :rotfl: :rotfl:The difference being that our Vauxhall Combo van is tidy on the outside but not mechanically sound ;) so I really need reliable wheels. I am delighted that reading my story has pushed you into action and hope that you have made a start on that paperwork, which can be so daunting

Please let us know how you are getting on with the paperwork and with life in general, so that we can all help each other along this hard road we have found ourselves on. Sharing is Caring on this thread :D:D

Glad you had a good meal out MandyLou, sounds yummy too  and that you've had a few day away too, as I found it really does help. Your post does sound more positive and it's great to hear that you've been clearing out a little bit and getting things done in the garden. Had a laugh at your daughter's clothing excess :rotfl::rotfl:

As for inane banter, I think you post wonderfully :T :T You are getting better at posting hun so keep up the good work. Actually I was just thinking yesterday that it's about time for another of your posts
