You can make a complaint by visiting a police station, but probably better to select the appropriate force details from here and use those. Either write or phone - by phone you may get an idea of how seriously they're likely to treat thiings if you do decide to go ahead with an official complaint ;)

You can probably make the complaint online with the force concerned.

Not sure I agree vwith the last bit. You could easily be arrested for breach of the peace!

I meant in terms of letting them see you are serious about pursing it, rather than throwing chairs about :D
  • As I understand it, in a private sale, the seller has no liability against faults (even those which existed) if it could not be reasonably expected that they would have known about them. For example, a car mechanic would be expected to know about such a fault and therefore could be liable for non disclosure. However, if the seller was a doctor (for instance) they couldn't be expected to have known about such a fault, and so would have zero liability, even if asked to disclose problems with the car.

Could I also suggest that OP changes her username to something which won't identify her?

If she does complain about this charming chap, he may google her name in the hope of digging some dirt, and I bet this thread will come out on top!

Yeah, but he'd need her name in the first place to run that search. Besides, if he did and read down to result 4 he might get a bit worried about trying it on with (just possibly) DCI Lisa Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police ;) :rotfl:

Since he has just bought a car from her and her name is on the V5 I suspect it wont be too hard for him to find her name.

I would def make a complaint!!A) the rules of selling a car on ebay state that you are not bidding to view it you are bidding to buy it (unless the description and the actual car really differ!)
    B) Police officer or not, he has the same rules as us!

My husband is a PO and he said to save everything and write a letter to your local MP and the Inspector of the station stating everything he has said to you. A little mention of press probably wouldnt go amiss... and this will all be sorted out by the time jeremy kyle comes on!!!
