Coupon printing??
Mainly coupons from the coupon thread.
You do need to install "Coupon Printer" for best coupons hence why the need to upgrade to XP etc..
Other coupons may print on 98, but for the best ones a need to upgrade would probably be needed.

It is a "fun project" and if doesn't work, may look on free-cycle etc for a better pc.

If you need to install XP, perhaps time to look on FreeCycle0 -

Got the RAM today (2 lots) and both state:
128Mx64 DDR SDRAM
1GB 400MHz
Would this be any good??
If I can't get the XP on the PC, then probably not able to print the most valuable coupons and may be better taking the tower to the tip and keeping the monitor??
Thanks yet again.

Looks like I won't get XP on this pc then without spending money upgrading??
Think it's time to admit defeat and look for another cheap pc.
What price should I be looking at for a cheap tower capable for printing coupons (using coupon printer)??

Is the machine you are using now, no good?!!

Oh yes. I have a netbook and a laptop (also 3 broken laptops).
One broken laptop needs a motherboard and don't want to spend £100+ on a repair, so was looking for another cheapie, purely to print more coupons.
The netbook I'm using now only cost around £130 when CPW had a clearance sale and I wouldn't mind another one.
The problem with the coupon printer is it recognises the pc, so you can't print more coupons, but you can on another pc - the more pc's, the more coupons, if that makes sense.
I'm thinking of a £20 budget on a cheap tower (thinking towers would be cheper). It would be a spare in case I wear out any more laptops. lol

Yep Lynsey - keep an eye on eBay locally and Gumtree, and you'll find a Pentium4 or similar computer for under £50, which should already have XP on it, and hopefully an XP serial number too.0

I am building a Retro Beige Box Win98 PC atm. I have almost all the parts sourced, including a Motherboard (with LAN) and the RAM.
I have sourced my RAM from http://www.komputerbay.com/
- they advertise on Amazon also. I was one of the first to buy from them and their prices, delivery and service are 1st. class. You can only fit (2x) 256 sticks of PC-133 Ram in this motherboard, that's a max of 512 MB but should be enough. Komputerbay are specialists in old stuff, take a look.
I would be interested in how this pans out, please let me know via a PM.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
