I've been given an old tower pc and lcd monitor and I want to know if it can be used via a router??
It has a 56K V.90 fax modem if that means anything.
It only has the smaller socket for a modem cable.
Is there a converter??
Should I just bin this (keep monitor) or is it an option to use via internet (could use to print coupons).
Window 98.
Thanks for any advice/help.

it will need a network card, with windows98 drivers, available for a few pounds, are there no other sockets on the back?!!

Thanks, can only see the smaller phone-type socket.
Would it be worth upgrading??
Would it be fast enough??
Much appreciated.

How do we know? Give us the full model number at least.
A network card is cheap. Probably less than £5.0 -
its probably quite old, with limited ram/hd, and difficult to get antivirus and upto date browsers for 98, although avast v4 and firefox3 should work.!!

it's probably not worth spending money on when you could get a second hand pentium4 xp machine for a minimal amount!!

wireless isnt going to work- it's windows98, so the network card will need drivers available.!!

So I could convert this to wireless??
£6 is a small price to pay, thanks.
2nd question then - would an Epson DX4400 work on this pc??
It would only ever be used to print money-off coupons, so £6 would easily be recovered.
