don't really dance on them!! but do sit on them a lot whilst tea is cooking etc, havent done it since sat, and no cramp so far, whereas i usually get it once a night. confused now tho, either its the granite or the cork or the magnet help.

oh been having one of them a night, had forgot how refreshing they are. maybe that is it jaybee. ;)
  • Is it in the calf muscles?

Hope you've cured the problem altogether, but if you do get any more, here's how i found to get rid of it (suffered mercilessly during pregnancies):

if you are standing up, lift your toes as high as you can (heel still on the floor). same idea if you are lying down, try to get your toes to point up towards your head. hurts like hell for a few seconds, then the cramp eases and vanishes. i got into the habit of doing this when i stretched my legs in the night too, as stretching them with toes pointing away could bring on a cramp spasm.

Be nice to think the granite thing is an end to your cramps though....if i can remember that one, i'll look REALLY brainy if i can find a situation in which to use it....must find some friends with granite worktops, who sit on them, and bring the conversation round to cramps......

    LOL

Pins and needles and pains in the hands are likely to be due to carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive strain injury (RSI). If I'm writing for a long time i get it and i had a problem with pins and needles and pains when i did soldering for long periods when on a stained class course. I imagine its a consequence of working with heavy equipment and the sufferer is a welder, who would notice it when working.

There is also a condition called Guillain-Barré syndrome where there are abnormal antibodies in the blood that slow down circulation and it is often noticed as pain in the hands especially if they get cold. Blood tests needed to detect this.

Cramp in the legs can be helped by squeezing the philtrum (skin folds between nose and upper lip) between finger and thumb quite hard for several seconds. I believe its an acupressure point. I have used it a few times with leg cramps at night. My Mum used it successfully too, though she thought i was mad for suggesting it, but was grateful nevertheless.

Lack of salt can cause cramp. If you have it for this reason then dont worry about the dangers of salt in the short term. Often happens after a lot of sweating like in hot weather. I recommend an emergency bag of crisps. (I eat a lot of crisps and hardly ever get cramp!). :D
