Correct. It wasn't shag pile, twas pretty thick carpet though. The room I had to do was about 20SqM - In total I used 3 bottles of indorex and a about 3 of the power stuff (can't remember the name now). I wasn't taking any chances. Fleas  Dead Fleas :T

Was that deliberate overkill, or because it failed the first two times?
  • Having a horrible suspicion that the use of Flea treatment on my cats and flea spray for the house contributed to the M.E. I now suffer, I will never, ever, ever, use these horrible chemicals ever again.
Tea-Tree as a deterrent, and can be used on animals.
Steam Cleaner - every time. Shag pile carpet no doubt you wont get them all first try, but defo use the steam cleaner, get right into all edges, then vacuum every day. For as long as the flea-life-cycle lasts (can't remember off top of my head)
I purchased a steam cleaner ove15+ years ago, and got rid of all the chemical cleaners in my house. Wont ever go back. Can't walk down the 'cleaning' aisle without if affecting me now....

I've tried cyanide on the owners of the dogs, it works a treat!
  • There is no advantage whatsoever in having an animal in the house other than as a burglar deterrent.

The fact that they attract fleas does sort of ruin the argument.

    Omg you haven't lived!

Cats and dogs are so loyal and loving. Especially dogs. They love you, never get grumpy or argue back - no matter what you say. So much better than humans!!

No problems with fleas if you keep up the treatment PROPERLY from the vets.

My DH didn't really want a dog but now he adores him and says he could never imagine life without him!

My Koi are friendly and loyal, don't have fleas and stay in the pond out of the way. Not much good at going for a walk though and tend to attract rather than frighten off theives.

That's why I believed I've been lied to. (see other thread) However if a dog is already living in a filthy flea ridden house I guess the treatment has to be more regular. Either way they can't blame me for taking them around 'marshes' as if anyone would in this weather with labradors!

Oh how little you know, but that's another story.

Unfortunately I'm alergic to anything with fur or feathers, bred parrots for a few years until it became obvious.

Love dogs, used to take my daughters westie out fishing, but that is the point, outside fine, in the house?, sorry,

I too keep Koi carp, and fish, outside and I'm not alergic to them.;);)

The fact that you prefer dogs to humans worries me, sorry
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Hi, I bought a product from the pet shop called Staykil, it kills fleas on contact, continues to kill for 12 months, & prevents lavae & eggs from developing, Vac well first, & remember to spray all the nooks & crannies behind & under furniture etc, this product has no smell & really works for me, (I have 2 cats ) Good Luck !

For house infestations we've always gone the route of flea foggers, always kills the blighters and dont come back again.

We have 2 cats and a dog who all pick fleas up, for them we use program flea treatment - expensive but very good stuff. We also used to use staykill but as I understand that product is now a banned product as it contains dangerous organophosphates which are banned in the EU.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

I haven't read the other posts om the thread other than the last one (30)...we had a bit of a problem some years back and the only way we cracked it was with the program injection on the animal...
no amount of vacuuming or other flea treatments broke the cycle well enough we removed the old flooring and sealed the gaps in the floorboards, steamed, and various other lotions and potions but to no avail

.....it costs us about £40 every 6 months for the program injection and the initial injection takes a couple of weeks to work but for us its been well worth it....
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
