The instrumental music used throughout the 'Industrial Revolution' part of the opening ceremony - anyone know what it's called?

The music that Kenneth Branagh was speaking over is 'Nimrod'. The other music which was used in this section (the drumming part led by Dame Evelyn Glennie) is called 'And I Will Kiss'.

Underworld with Dame Evelyn Glennie - And I will Kiss. A score made for the Olympic ceremony.

People did vote for them!! MPs don't get sent here on spaceships. And in the absence of a clear winning party a coalition was the only option. Would you have preferred a government consisting of labour, green and nationalist MPs?

Well you must have had a different basllot paper to me, because I didn't see the word 'Coalition' on mine.

We all made decisions on which party to vote for based on the policies set out in their manifestos. The minute the Conservatives and Libdems agreed on a coalition, they both threw their Manifestos in the bin and between them drew up a 'Coalition Agreement'. But not one single voter saw this agreement prior to the election. So how could any of us agree to it and decide that a coalition was the govertnment of choice?

My comments would be the same if Labour had concocted a coalition with the rest of the parties in the House of Commons. A labour lead coalition would not be appropriate either.

So you want no government at all then? Seems a bit radical!

On a side note the majority of world democracies are elected via PR. Its very rare any PR elected government gets an absolute majority, therefore by your argument none of those governments have a mandate.

Incorrect. The Games were given to GB.

London is simply the host city of the host nation, and it is the nation that competes, not London.

Which is why events are spread out throughout the nation.

The bid was from London. If it was purely the country why was there a bid previously from Birmingham?

So the opening ceremony cost £27 million, guess how many people watched the ceremony at it's peak? 27 million. If everyone who watched it paid a pound, then that's paid for it! That doesn't include people who watched it there or on the big screens.

So really it was quite good value for what it was.

I laughed out loud with Mr Bean and the Queen and Mr Bond! I thoroughly enjoyed last night, except for Macca messing up right at the end! Oh well, if it was just one mistake made, then at least it was something small like that!

I bet there were a couple of high 5 when the palace agreed to that one

As for mentioning Londoner Tim Berners Lee, what a disgrace. What has the world wide web ever done for those outside London?
Why a disgrace? Yu wouldnt be able to post this now if it werent for him? The whole ide of it was the progression and that part was of the digital age, which IMHO he was integral in. How many times a day do you use the web? As for what it has doen for others utside f London, the list is endless.

Therein I think you will find your answer

Because a city bids to be the host city on behalf of their country. It is not the city that competes, it is the country.

If Birmingham had succeeded it would still have been representative of GB, the host nation.

London 2012 is only an informal term, it is officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad and the host is GB.

I think you are missing the irony, bit of a forced Life of Brian homage a la, What have the Romans ever done for us?
