    So...in news for today.

Shopping (always a good subject for a debt forum)

I am wearing my £6.50 charity shop spotty tunic (10% of the price of the dress) and it hasn't snagged on the desk or been attacked by any other office furniture (touches wood!) YET.

Went to buy black boots last night in M&S with my vouchers and Xmas money and they were busy putting out new shoes. Not particularly a good sign. They did have boots (if I were planning to go on an expedition to the North Pole). So going to take my remaining Christmas money and have a look in Tesco tonight after the pub quiz . This may involve the expenditure of some money so I may have a look and come away for a think. We shall see!

The BBC want to do a feature on the evening news on my job. I am on leave for Thursday /Friday sorting out my house...so the gorgeous girl who did the pilot last year and is an expert at shifting blame in my direction and claiming credit where available is very helpfully going to step into the breach and get interviewed instead of me. Isn't that nice of her!!!

Right better go. Got a LOT of work to do this afternoon so I can go home for two days. Have to work out how much the lodger owes me once I've given her £4 back for the lack of broadband. I'm sure that will really cut into the gas and electric bill. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Tomorrow I have a meeting with a sliding wardrobe man (the wardrobe not him) in my bedroom. Now should I try some Miranda style flirting for that? :D 2pm too early?

    and I'll need to start painting;
    • Kitchen unit doors
    • Doors
    • Woodwork
    • Skirting
    • Feature wall in bedroom
    • 2nd bedroom
Will also have a meeting in the next couple of days with the guy managing the letting for me. Have to print off his stuff tonight.

    BUSY...BUSY...BUSY

Will report back on expenditure cutting and income expansion in my next posting from the Fiscal Cliff.

    Tootle pip,

Where is Mr Z? I miss him. I just wonder if his New Years resolution was to spend less time on here and he's been very successful at it!

I'm not buying black boots. I have two pairs at home. The heeled variety, not flat comfortable ones, but they are boots all the same. Can leave purchasing to next Christmas.

Right off to the frozen north to clear, sort, bin and paint...and paint. Lots of painting....and to do battle with the lodger over the gas and electric.:D

...and it's started. Let battle commence :T:T

Now those of you who have lived as a lodger or in rented accommodation tell me how a deposit works with a fair landlord / lady (yes I am actually one of them!)
Isn't there something about it not leaving either party out of pocket and taking account of any damage to the property. My lodger thinks that I pay it to her today ie. before she moves out and that I do not include this months gas and electric but try and contact her in the future to get it off her. She seemed to assume that silence and raised eyebrows meant I was in agreement :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
...in which case she is in for a bit of a shock.

Have submitted the gas and electric readings which result in a bill of £49.95 plus vat!!! The last two estimates gave us bills of £125 and £136 so I think we were a little bit ahead on paying.

Nice man has come and measured up for a new wardrobe with sliding doors that slide. He clocked my copious use of the terms functional and tenants and has priced me up something that works and is not fancy. £660. He didn't even comment on the enormous pile of crap in the lasts section of the wardrobe or the empty tampon packet on the floor :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh dear, I'm a classy bird. But seems I might be able to get the house up to spec for £1k afterall.

The 0% application for the Post Office credit card has come back as they have changed the form so I have to fill it in again. That will be getting done tonight in between bouts of painting and wine drinking.:D Halifax are trying to increase the APR on my credit card so I'm going to have to look up what I sent to M&S to get them to freeze the rate and send that. Will change which card I tackle first too but as the Halifax is only £1400 that would be quite a nice one to boot into touch quickly. An early win if you will.

Right better get off and go and price up tile paint so I can take that off her deposit. £30 off for gas and electric plus about £10 I think for tile paint where she has chipped the tiles is not bad.

We got our deposit back about a month after we moved out less a charge for deep clean (we had kept on top of them to make sure that any damage was sorted straight away and we paid out own bills)
