For those whining about people selling consoles on ebay etc please consider the following points...

Ebay is a very natural market place... people will pay what they feel that it is worth, price is set by the consumer (unless its a BIN but most consoles go on as auctions). By Ebaying a console, you have not deprived the market of a console, you've merely moved the medium in which the end console is bought. Regardless or not of Ebay's existence, there is a shortage. People are willing to pay above retail price.... if you're going to be mad at anyone for the ebay and wii situation, you should be mad at the people paying the extortionate prices.

If people wanted the consoles so badly, they should have pre-ordered, its quite a simple concept when you think about it =) Though, I understand how sometimes little kids wont tell their parents exactly what they would like for christmas until its too late.

let`s face it the OP bought 2 thinking he was gonna be in the cash from ebaying or whatever,he then realised he was on his !!!! as sony need to give away £2000 lcd`s to make the news on release day :rotfl: and he came close to getting one for free.what made me laugh was his first post is literally asking advice at how he can get away with it,which was nicely veiled as a "what should i do with it" thread.his second post had me in tears as when the possibility of the tables being turned and him being charged for his second ps3 he starts banging on about court procedures :rotfl: you couldn`t make it up could you.

the wii situation is still cray and its purely down to nintendo now imho.fair enough usually its going to be hard getting one on release day but 3 to 4 months after release you still cant get one ? seems to me like nintendo are taking the !!!! imho.i was reading on the gaming forums about a fella buying a game in the store when a man and his friend marched in with 4 ps3`s demanding a refund, obviously another person stung by the hindsight of the 360 and WII furore.if i was the game retailer i wouldnt have given him anything but a big smile.if the consoles arent broken why give someone a refund for something the obviously bought to screw others out of money for ?

You would of thought the OP would have checked out how the US launch of PS3 went to see if it was worth attempting to make a fast buck, could of saved on the hassle.

In the end he did the honest thing and Argos now have their property back. IMHO the people in the wrong are Sony who brought out a console that is missing parts that is included elsewhere in the world but charging nearly twice as much. If I get flamed for this comment then so be it, but it's the manufacturers and retailers that are making the money from large mark ups and if other people try to profit as well then good luck to them:D

Why don't you shut your mouth you absolute pr*ck. I couldn't care what the hell you think of me, because your oppinion is as useful to me as car keys are to a blind man.

I pre-ordered 2 PS3's to *try* and make a small profit - whats the big deal? I'm always looking at ways to make money, and if I want to sell PS3's on eBay then I'm going to do it. Its not like I pre-ordered 30 PS3's to sell - is it? No. Its 2. Which is perfectly within my rights to do.

As an update, I actually called Argos and they were aware of the mistake. When I initially paid for the 2 x PS3's, they were taken as 2 seperate payments, when they were refunded, they were refunded as one single payment for both amounts which made their system think only one order was being cancelled.

The PS3 was collected yesterday by the delivery guy and I no longer have it! I suppose that will make you all happy.

Now, back to this joker who I was quoting:

What are you talking about? Kids were wii-less because there was not enough supply to meet the demand of the consoles. Its not like people were buying 15, sticking them in the loft and then locking them away, is it? They were being sold on eBay and going to these kids anyway. Albeit they were paying higher prices for them, but don't make out that people like me (who, by the way, didn't purchase ANY Wii's) are depriving children of their christmas presents!

There was no need to call me an "a***hole" for trying to make myself some money.
If someone wants to buy things and sell them on Ebay fair play to them. What the hell do people think shops do? Err they buy things cheaper than they can sell them and sell them.

To all the do good-ers, can I suggest you are on the wrong website. All the money saving tips, mean some companies getting more business (thus others going under meaning redundencies) or some little kid in a far East sweatshop working for peanuts so you can have a cheaper item of clothing or electricals. You can't play the moralistic code and then use this website, unless you are looking for free trade, environmentally friendly, pay the workers the minimum wage Money Saving. And having worked in Retail Logistics for 20 years, that don't happen my friends...If the OP wants to try and make money fairplay to him. The amount of hassle caused by Argos and time waiting for the delivery guy has not been recompensed to the chap. Argos make a mistake and he has to wait round for them to rectify it? Where's the justice in that? Some of the people round here are complaining about capitilist consumerism and trying to make a quick buck, but it's alright to save money( because that isn't exactly the flip side of making it is it!?). Talk about lack of self irony!

Going on about ebay - in the store I work in, we had 200 ps3s. As son as it was realised there would be free stock, we had 50 preorders refunded in 3 days. Then we had one gentleman come in trying to refund 4 ps3s he bought for ebay, after being told they were not making profit :(

    What a depressing thread.

I didn't realise there so many would-be thieves on MSE! It's hardly surprising the country is in the state it is when people show such a lack of morals.

Kiddy Guy is right, we put so much into tertiary industry in this country, if every now and again they mess up and some of us can have a little bit of sunshine in our otherwise harsh lives then why not?
Hell I would sure as hell want to keep and item if they messed up and sent it me for free, just a bit of good luck to balance the bad. I have plenty of morale standards but company mistakes are not my problem to sort out.

In expansion I by no means agree with anyone who buys 10 copies of something just to make a profit on Ebay, you guys are idiots, I was just referring to the original story of the thread.
