i would cancel the card you used to pay for item and get bank to send you new card(say its lost), this way they can not charge you with out you knowing .
Leave it to them to chase you, you can be away for a month, etc...
if after few months you dont heare from them- then ebay!
Argos could still charge the closed credit card, the credit card company would then pass the charge on.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Years ago a similar thing happened to me, when the BBc B eventually came out. I had ordered one and by the time it actually came out it had gone up by £70 from 330 to 400. I was actually sent two, paid for two @ 330 each and was able to sell the second one at the higher price. Its unsolicited goods, keep it, unused for 6 months, and then its yours legally. I dont feel bad for Argos..(god of shopping).tribuo veneratio ut alius quod they mos veneratio vos0

Some people are naive. Being honest is all good and well, but if government and business cannot be honest, why should the individual be? Fire up that PS3 and enjoy
If you are ever contacted, say that the item was already collected months ago and you have no idea on the details.

I'm sure you'd have a different point of view if you'd sent £400 to someone by mistake.
All the 'keep it' advice on here is a very sad reflection on modern society. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

Personally i would feel uncomfortable keeping it without trying to sort out the mess. Something like this happened to us & i got legal advice about wording a letter to them. Here's a quote from the letter i sent:Although the lady in the __xx_ office thanked me for being so honest & recommended that I just keep _the product_, I am worried about the potential consequences of this, which is why I am contacting you (again!)
I understand that the Unsolicited Goods & Services Act of 1971 covers this situation, whereby I will be entitled to keep or dispose of _the product_ if it has not been collected within 30 days.
I await your response.
Yours faithfully,
Anyway, I got a response to say i could keep the product as a gesture of goodwill! :j (it was worth about £75!)0 -
Let me know what games you get for it0

some of these posts I think reflect the way our society has gone down hill.
Just because it is a big retailer it appears acceptable to many to STEAL £400 of property from them.
Secondly the motives behind the purchase to make money out of people buying a product in the hope of making a quick few pounds . People were desperate to get one of these consoles well wii's anyway and many were deprived because of speculators. Just like ticket touts at concerts etc denying true fans tickets as they can't afford the high prices
Thirdly what they did was gambling if it was a bet on a horse they would have lost their money and that would have been it. What happened here was that they lost their bet and then expected the retailer to cover their loss by giving a refund. Just remember that drives up the cost for the rest of us because you pay for the Returns Department at Argos and the stock loss.
Well that's it from the moral high ground0
