Which seats?

I avoid the aisle seat.
If you fall asleep, everyone walking past walks into your arm. Everyone next to you needs the loo about 10 minutes after you've nodded off. If you're on the inside, at least you get to wake them up.0 -

I wouldn't pay £400 extra to fly with Qantas. The Air NZ product is very good in itself.
Principle. We just won't go to or through the great satan.
The Qantas premium economy cabin upstairs on the A380 gets fab reviews and the seats are in groups of two. I'd be well cheesed off if I got an overweight snorer parked next to me for 35 hours, especially if I'd paid nearly £5k for my seats."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

You're making the £2800 business class seats on Korean Air sound very tempting.

It goes £600 over my maximum budget, unfortunately."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

£5k for 2 seats  No wonder you won't be able to afford it again! Standard economy on long haul is generally fine, if you're worried about the flight length why not stop over in HK (or Singapore/BKK etc) for a night or 2.The Qantas premium economy cabin upstairs on the A380 gets fab reviews and the seats are in groups of two. And are you sure it's 35 hours - have you taken account of the time difference? It's usually about 25 hours to NZ.0 -
"Generally fine" isn't good enough for me. I don't want to be sitting with my knees under my chin or next door to a munter four hours into a 13 hour flight wishing I'd gone the extra bucks for a decent seat. I think the flight time varies with the route and the stops.
Barak will just have to get over it.

Have you actually checked the seat pitches in standard economy? I'm 5'11'' and have flown standard economy long haul on loads of different airlines (generally the "flag carriers") and have never had a problem with legroom, there's always been loads of space. It's not like Ryanair."Generally fine" isn't good enough for me. And you're just as likely to be sat next to a "munter" whatever class you travel in. In fact you're more likely to be sat next to some arrogant whinging "nothing is ever right" type in the more expensive seats!
Still if you want to pay £2-3k more that you need I'm sure the airlines will take your money!0 -

Central seats are in groups of three. Outer seats are in pairs. However, you get free seat selection at time of booking, so you can select what you'd prefer. 38J/K is an exit row pair with unlimited space.
However, I'd be tempted to stick with NZs latest space-seat configuration in PE

Air NZ only do those seats on their LHR - LAX - AKL route, not via Hong Kong."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
