Sofa doesn't fit ! My fault

I recently purchased a sofa which arrived today, however wouldn't fit through my door. It is a what I believed to be a standard door width 30" and I thought if it wouldn't fit through a standard door they would tell me at the time of purchase. However I have done a bit of googling and found I may be incorrect about the standard door width. Also, I have signed the disclaimer saying that I take responsibility about access.
Whatever happens (swap for a different one, window removal etc.) I am going to incur an extra charge, was I in the wrong and if not, can I do anything so I don't have to pay anything else out ?
Thanks
Steve

A Sofa never usually goes through a door straight. I presume you have tried all the angles...on it's end, upside down. 45degrees etc...?0

On one end, pulling the top through normally works unless there is a really tight turn immediately after the door.
If you have wooden sash windows, it's quite easy to remove the sash by taking out the internal beading.0 -

To answer your question, you are responsible for ensuring a product you buy will fit into your home. If you had taken in measurements and asked if it would fit you would have a good argument for them paying costs etc but if you haven't the costs are yours.0 -
I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet0

My sofa had to come through the window and I live in a first floor flat.:oI'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
You could try and contact the retailer, and ask if you could exchange it for another sofa, explain what has happened.
Try and appeal to their better nature ?0 -
Had to take the dooor off before I could get the sofa in, easy to do just a couple of allen key screws.I hate migraines.0

was I in the wrong
Yes, you should have measured your door and compared this to the dimensions of the sofa, the only way you wouldn't be in the wrong is if the sofa delivered wasn't made to the quoted spec.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Do the feet come off the sofa?0

How can the company possibly be at fault for a mistake you made - not bothering to check it'd fit?!0
