How many kids are 'too many'?

i am 1 of 7 children, who all shared a 3 bedroomed house. it was hard because money was tight and privacy was non-existant.
i am hoping to have a fourth child, and it has been a real struggle to come to the conclusion to try for another baby. but we have decided it is the right thing to do.
i am a SAHm and we can't afford designer gear and my kids can't have everything they want.
Definitely wouldn't have 7, originally said no more than 2, then no more than 3 kids, but 4 would be my absolute limit.
We tried to book a package holiday abroad but found that to add a third child the price would go from £2500 to £3500!
why don't places cater for larger families, hotel rooms, family tickets for days out normally cater for a family of 4. it is not realistic at all.now mum of 4!!!0 -
I think it's not so much the final number as the spacing between them.
I can't imagine having enough time to bring up more than 5 or 6 at once. I can see though that if your older ones have left home, maybe more babies would work.
I'm currently pg with #4, our oldest is 9. This will be our last as DH doesn't want more and to be honest we can't really fit any more into out 3 bed house.

Hello!
You could say im from a big family, i have two brothers and two sisters. but its complicated, and im the youngest with quite an age gap between me and the youngest of my brothers/sisters. Our house was quite full when we all lived at home, but my eldest sister left home when she was quite young and with the age gaps it meant as people left home etc i got more space and peace and quiet lol....it did feel odd when my youngest sister left and i was the only one left!
Personally, having more then two kids scares me lol! nothing to do with money-i just dont think i could spread myself between too many kids and have enough time to be 'me'.
My sister has three kids (2 1/2, 7 and 8 years old) and loves it! however her hubby lost his job, and is now on benefits short time while he is re training and gaining work experience on a course-they are not doing this through choice and i do not like people judging them. he was in full paid work when they had all three, and have their own house. He'd worked non stop since he left school.
My brother however, is an idiot and does live off benefits-i do not agree with this at all and my niece is probably getting ideas off him that this is ok.
(other brother and sister dont want kids, work full time, have own home etc.)
I'd like two kids ideally, but i keep joking 'what happens if we had triplets?!'...

I have 4 and I manage barely. Finacially it's easier when they are younger as you can get Child tax credit and stuff. Once they get to late teens, it's crippling. I have to pay for college bus, the tax credits adn family allowance stops, they want to drive, they eat more..... It's great to have kids. I mean who else is going to visit you when you are old?
I have 4 and managed perfectly, both my partner and i worked. Now my boys are teenagers and i'm now single and unemployed it's crippling!! They are certainly more expensive in teenage years....petrol for one as they are always going to sport events.0 -
i think too many for me would be having 1 more, i've got 2 at the moment and we could well afford another one BUT i dont think i could cope with another one.
Last year i went through a really bad phase with DD and was finding it really hard and there's no way i could cope if i had 3 of them!!
that said though i'm only 24 and the thought of never being pregnant again or having another baby seems sad.
I was the oldest of 4 children and although we had a happy childhood, we never went abroad which although seems trivial i really want my children to experience going abroad as OH did. he was an only child and has been to america and all sorts of places.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts
