IT'S OVER!!
The final cheque arrived on Wednesday, I paid it in yesterday and all legal business is finished.
There's a little business to transact over the headstone Dad shares with Mum, but aside from that it's all good.
The money is going to be parked up in a savings account and I'll be going over my options.
There's probably going to be a few threads about that. Sorry.
Thanks for all your help and advice.
Great news!
Have only just seen this thread ,suprisingly as i thought that i'd searched for and read every thread about inheritance/problem wills or intestacy as involved in a situation myself.
Good to read your positive update.0 -
Update
Bittersweet thing.
The developers have put the house up for sale.
Even though they're in it for the profit, it's sad to see it go so soon.

That's very similar to my aunt's old house in Clapham. It was recently on the market at a million and a half -unbelievable what these houses go for now when in the seventies they were all converted into flats as you couldn't give them away as family homes and all those original features were considered a disadvantageI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

After paying hundreds of thousands in tax, I came home on Thursday morning to find a Trust and Estates Tax Return Form for the year 2014 and 2015.
Really.
A 12 page, colour coded form with a 'phone number for extra sheets to fill in depending on what type of trust or estate one is dealing with.
After being put on hold for over 30 minutes to talk to people, it turns out that yes, it needs to be filled in .
The estate, even though it no longer exists and tax has been paid, was distributed during the tax year 2014-2015 and the form needs filling in even if it's a nil return.
I passed it on to the solictor.
HMRC are a bunch of vultures. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
